Monday, 17th: Drove Ford to his daily radiation treatment, then a quick trip to Spring Park Coffee Shop for his lemonade - he was very nervous at his appointment, so had a slow drive, help him be calm. Once home, we did his daily scalp treatment of saline solution, then to VyStar to get our pension letters notarized. All three of us had lunch at Time Out Deli, then home to pick up as Mia is visiting later. I drove AA to her dentist appointment at 3:40 p.m. Mia came for a visit and dinner at Whitey's Fish Camp. We visited back at our house, I showed Mia all the Catholic stuff, explained about my dilemma about disposing it. She suggested donating to a Catholic Thrift Store - will check out that idea. Ford watched the Celtics game, I watched the new Maine Cabin Master's show on finding a home in Fassalto, Italy.

Week of June 17th 2024
Donna came and cleaned - yeah! Errands (Walmart). We all went to 1928 Cuban Bistro (near FIHS) for lunch, large sandwiches, so brought home half, getting two meals from one lunch. I went to JOI to get AA's knee operative report to take to Southeast Orthopedic. With only pickles, olives and cheese, went to our happy hour at River House, very breezy, was nice (and hot) sat inside. Ford and Hugh made plans to see a movie tomorrow. We had panzanella for dinner.
Wednesday 19th: Federal Holiday: It wasn't until June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, that approximately 250,000 remaining slaves in Texas would get the message that slavery had been officially abolished.
Another night of not sleeping well. Took Ford to his radiation treatment, then home to see if he could nap. Ford and Hugh had lunch at Mellow Mushroom, and watched the Will Smith movie, Bad Boys: Ride or Die part 4 (he said was terrible). AA and I saw Inside Out 2, very nice, similar to the original movie with added puberty emotions of sarcasm, embarrassment, anxiety, ennui (boredom) and envy.
I washed the couch slip covers, a big effort, using our large tub and the washer, they take 2 - 3 days to air dry. I also bagged one more of the hedge clippings, will take several more (when Billy cut them he bagged 12 huge contractor/leaf bags, these are the smaller branches he left behind). We didn't have much of a dinner, full of popcorn. Watched Jeopardy. Heat wave:
Thursday, 20th: Parkinson exercises and presentation about the "glove", Ford doesn't need right now, maybe try it in a year or two.
AA and Siyan went to the college to get books for their 2nd summer class and then to Starbucks. AA took her final test for the college algebra class, so far she has grade 100.
Radiation in the afternoon for Ford. Ford and I went to the River House, Nancy held a gathering to remember her husband Frank (passed last year July - Ford was their best man in Nov. 2017). Many former neighbors (Rod/Candy, Ken/Marie Bendy, Liz Hart, Jeanne, Kim, Patsey Burnell, Bob Newell (handyman), plus Frank's daughter Kelly and hubby Drew, etc.).
News of a Redmond cousin passing from Cancer, Eric - just 55 years old - brother to Kim Redmond.
Quiet night, off to bed!
Friday, 21st: Took Ford to his radiation treatment. We cleaned off the golf cart, it has not been used since January, it ran great. We walked to EH/Talons for lunch with Penny, good to see her, she's making a trip to Wash DC to visit a 95 year old Aunt. AA got weepy, talking about golf and college. Ford had the Salmon BLT, Penny enjoyed her chicken tacos, I had the salmon power salad, AA had the Ceasar salad.
We cleaned out a closet (part of ours and AA cleaned out hers), we need to PURGE our home of stuff (and that helps with organizing).
Instead of the salmon summer rolls again, I made rice and had the rolls "deconstructed". Pretty good except the jalapeno pepper was extremely hot (came from same package as the ones for the summer rolls and they were good/medium heat).
I started the process of washing Ford's den chair slipcovers, takes some scrubbing!
Saturday, 22nd: We had a slow morning, I made deviled eggs for RH happy hour, then scrubbed Ford's chair slipcovers and then put in washing machine. We ate leftovers for lunch, then had some quiet time. AA is logging into college apps, signing up for virtual tours, checking admission requirements, etc.
Mary Wiland's (SJRPP) son Chris' funeral - I did not attend.
Mia came to the RH happy hour (with Geo in the car). We had good conversation, Karrie arrived.
Back at home, AA ordered and picked up Chipoltes for dinner. I still have sinus problems (sneezing, runny nose, no temperature) so went to bed early to rest.
Sunday, 23rd: AA and I loaded up the wrought iron patio set (we bought on Craig's list at least 15 years ago), driving it to Carolyn, for her pool patio. Back home, get ready to go to the Mellow Mushroom to celebrate Carl Cruce's birthday. See separate post.
