Last Week of August 2013

This week was busy as ever. Not much to show for it in the way of photos! AA had golf lessons, time swimming at the pool, school homework, picking up donations for FUMCH and Ford got in a round of golf with fellow retiree Mark Wright.
And making cookies with Daddy! Daddy Ford found a recipe for "semi-homemade" chocolate cookies. Using a box mix along with cool whip, eggs and butter.... voila! Cookie sandwiches:

Smoosh!
Friday after school, four desserts!
All smiles!
Ready for the Labor Day weekend!

Summer Championship - Windsor Parke

First a word about school so far. AA received a gift from her teacher for her outstanding conduct. She loves LEGOs so this little toy was just for her. She put it together in just a few minutes. It is good the teacher gives out encouragement and rewards.

Last weekend we enjoyed the pool; it was cooler due to lots of rain! AA likes to ride her horse (noodle)!
We enjoy hamburgers or one of the specials at the cabana; always a great way to enjoy the Club pool.

Now to the Jacksonville Summer Tour Championship: This is at the final, ninth hole. Shake hands. Congratulations all around. The Daddy Caddies so glad another round is over!

Waiting in the Club house for the girls "7 and under" medals:
The scores: AA came in second and second for the summer tour (she missed three tournaments while on vacation, so no surprise here!). Georgia golfer Bryn is outstanding now; she shot a 38! Wow!
All smiles: Newest player, McKelvey (Mak, on left) has improved to be a true competitor on most holes; she just began playing in June.
Had to get in a photo of the older boys including Tour Champion Trey Tesiero.
Director Matt chatting with the girls and complimenting them on their games!
A playoff for the Boys 6 year olds: Aiden Clark won; Phillip Dunham was a trooper, just getting back from a broken finger, missing at least four tournaments.
Aiden with his new caddy:
Celebrating afterwards at Fleming Island's Taps; Matt stopped by for a visit too!
Mom Jean with winner Aiden!
Our WINNER!!
She's our darling golfer! Next up: the Fall Tour!

Monday - Daily Dose of AA

This past Monday, we enjoyed an hour sitting on the deck, looking at the river, a strong breeze keeping us cooler (still humid and sticky, but very nice for Florida!). AA tickling her Daddy, members strolling by saying hello. A pleasant afternoon!

Buckman Bridge in distance:
Posing on our walk home, the many faces of our AA:
I have a few posts I am behind getting on the blog including last Sundays Golf Championship. I am always behind; I have accepted that fact!! Enjoy Labor Day weekend!

Life - Blog - No Big News this Week!

This week has been slow as in nothing extraordinary to blog about. Some exciting family news came near the end of the week. No new photos. Just a nice routine week! The school year has begun and we learned about a new grading system and development plan for each child. Sounds promising as each child will move along the curriculum with other children of like skill levels. Also, volunteer meetings and an Open House this Tuesday evening. AA has received "Outstanding" conduct these first two weeks of school. She tells us that Payten and her stay out of trouble! Not so much for the boys at her table! Always lots going on with school.

On Monday, we looked at a few homes in St. Augustine with nothing to report. No home has grabbed our attention yet that is in our price range. After our house hunting, we met with Auntie Carolyn and Kayla Mayse (was Pillsbury) for dinner (iPhone photo below).

Ford actually played golf with a work retiree on Tuesday. I think this was a rare time for him to socialize and not have our six-year old tagging along! Ford also went to the dentist knowing he probably will need a root canal and crown; yep, he was right!

Grown daughter Leaa and Jesse called on Thursday to say they have come to agreement on buying a home; so excited that they have a contract and now to see how the inspection and closing goes!

Last night, Friday evening finished with Alyzabeth going to our Church's Parent's Night Out program. She plays hard in the gymnasium for a couple of hours with friends then we go get her at bed time. Since babysitters are rare, this is a great couple hours for us to regroup and have some unwind time!

Saturday, today is sign-up day for the non-competition T-Ball team. AA says she wants to play so this will give her the skills so that she can play in the spring.
If the weather is good today, we hope to get in some golfing practice with friends at Eagle Harbor.
Alyzabeth has the Summer Golf Championship game, Sunday (tomorrow) and has practiced very little this week due to afternoon storms. Not the usual summer Florida showers; legitimate tornado warning, lightning type of storms!

Since we only have one photo for the week, I copied some from my Mom (kayaking on Little Sebago Lake) and one of my sister's phrases/quotes for the day, so true.

And we still try to watch some of the NASCAR races, cheering for Carl Edward and one of my all time favorites (see below). So tonight, hoping for win for either of these drivers!

Golfing - St. Johns Golf Club - First Place Finish!

The next to last tournament in the Summer Series was held at St. Johns Golf (located near I-95/Exit for CR 207). It was very wet, typical with all the storms and summer heavy rains. I think everyone's ball went "splash" each time it hit the ground! It was soggy and muddy, thankfully a bit windy too since the heat/humidity index was 103 degrees!
We haven't figured out yet how much golf AA should play during the week. Sometimes we think she should be out there six days per week, then sometimes she goes four days without golfing. We definitely know that one can get "rusty" if you don't golf at least a couple times a week. She has a regular lesson schedule too.
Practice at the driving range:

During the game, we were held up on the last four or five holes:
Receiving the medals: AA scored first place. We didn't know this until we were finishing the nine holes as Bryn played with an eight year old girl (she was the only one and they can't play alone). We were surprised and pleased.

Above: Tori Mouton, first time playing in this series (played with Bryn).
From my post on Facebook: AA's first place finish! She's a trooper! Next week is the end of the summer series. Since she missed three tournaments while we were on vacation, no championship trophy this time, can't make up points for the missed games. All fun for the families and we love to watch her play golf!
Another medal to hang on the wall!

First Week of School and Other Fun!

The first week of school seemed to go very well. At least from our perspective. AA passed with flying colors, no misconduct, no surprises. Completed her first week of homework. We took advantage of Friday and went to breakfast with Charlie and Donna Perry. A rare treat to get out during the day, easier now that summer is in session.
AA favorite lunch: fruit, vegetables, olives, cheese and pepperoni! We mix it up, but mainly finger foods, no sandwiches.

We went to a school-mate's home for BBQ and pool fun. AA enjoyed swimming and seeing Jane too. Lots of boys, it got a little rough at times; let's just say AA and I are not used to being around lots of little boys! I didn't take many photos, some light rains came, so put away the camera. Good food and Carie McCarley's hospitality was all good!

Jane Weigand came so there was one other girl!
We then went to the River House for the pre-Jaguar game and cook out for just a few minutes. Kelly does a great job keeping the little club together!
Sunday morning we made it to church (sometimes a challenge for us!) and then off to a golf game. We are finally getting into a routine! How is your end of summer routine going?
