Mommy Caddie - Or is that Mommie Caddie?

I finally took the plunge and pretended (practiced) to be AA's caddie. I needed to actually do it in case I had to substitute for sweet Hubby someday. Let's hope not! But, I did feel comfortable carrying the bag; a bit awkward as I didn't want to make any adjustments since this was a one time deal.
Daddy Caddie has it just the way he likes it.
We had a beautiful afternoon, no local tournament this weekend and we decided not to travel to one of the other local Florida tours.
So what do you call a Mommy Caddie? Too bad my name wasn't Maddy or Sadie or ?

I did a little coaching, mostly checking how she lined up the ball. I have a lot to learn, but in a pinch, I feel confident that smart and knowledgeable AA and I would manage together!

Maggie's Herb Farm, St. Augustine

We really like the local herb farm, Maggie's, usually very cheerful and fun to go through and see all the plants. This time, it rained all day, but we decided to go ahead and check out the plants and buy some herbs and vegetables. We have been to the open house in May before which is fun with many vendors to add to the experience.

Free roaming chickens, plus we watched horses in the next lot (through the fence):
Peeking around the rows of plants:
Our purchase along with organic fertilizer:
Lots of interesting and native Florida flowering plants:
It stopped raining by late afternoon, we went to the River House for cocktail hour and the sun came out. Should be sunny for the next week! We can get back to golfing!

Another Ranch Trail Ride - Diamond D Ranch

Diamond D Ranch has a great horse riding program for beginners and casual riders. You can take the one hour or two hour trail rides just about anytime. They are slow, ambling, gentle rides, great for any age. Today (Friday) since it was spring break, AA had her second ride (click here for her first time at Diamond D on 12/31/2013), this time in a group alone (without me). She was confident that it would be fun and of course, she was all smiles!

Her first ride, the horse was named JC; this horse is Mary and a bit older (and has a boyfriend-horse named Pop who was right behind her).
All smiles, without her front two teeth (she lost them on Thursday, 03/20/14 and Friday the 21st):
She's at the front of the line, right behind guide Ms. Tonya.
A beautiful flower by the fence rail:
 And they're off!
Rain was predicted but it was all sunshine and warm when we first arrived. The last ten minutes of the ride, everyone got wet with some sun showers:
 The end of the ride:
It was fun and AA wants lessons now! Oh no!

Jekyll Island Georgia; U. S. Kids Golf Tournament - Regional

This will be a long post, with photos from AA's practice round and two competition rounds.

Here's some text from our Facebook page:

AA finished strong at the regional U. S. Kid's Tournament, with sixth place (which was last place due to a withdrawal after the first round). Her score for 18 holes (two nine hole competitions) was 81 (one birdie). It was her best at the longer yardage (1300 regionals vs. 1100 at the local tours). If she had that same score in the recent prior two regionals in 2014, she would have placed second in both. Also, at this Jekyll Island regional, for years 2010 - 2012: she would have placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd. So you can see the girls competition has been growing over just the past few years. We are proud of AA, as she keeps learning and getting better (okay she did leave four putts on the table, so to speak.....). Next up is the State of Florida U.S. Kids championship! Fore!

fm - many of the top guns are here. many players have brought their coach with them. practice round was like watching a golf clinic. unreal talent level...

Practice round with VB from Toronto, Canada and BS; a bit cool, but nice weather:
We did have some waits as the course was crowded:

Lots more lessons learned for kids and parents; I am still working on a separate post on that topic!
