Week of August 22nd - Rainy Afternoons

Monday, I grocery shopped, made two spaghetti pies, one for Hugh and Maureen; one for our dinner. I took the pie to Hugh's home and they let me in for a visit, first time I have seen them since their PA family reunion trip, Maureen is still recovering from pneumonia and has congestive heart failure.
Bruschetta for dinner on Tuesday.
Wednesday, we were at the NFJG Awards (separate post) so no cooking for us. I am working 10 hours per week, so have better flexibility on when I run errands. Separate post about AA's two FIHS golf matches.
Thursday: I had my hair colored, trimmed, long over due! Truck had its oil change (and warned that next time, will need new rear brakes).
Ford cooked salmon and asparagus.
A nice photo from Melissa's LSL ladies meet-up:
Friday: I shopped AGAIN at Publix, bought shrimp, dinner was fettuccini with shrimp, garlic, cream, sundried tomatoes and spinach. Very good! AA did tons of homework (all weekend).
Saturday: I attended Steve Siegrist's funeral service. Spoke with Bill Hiers, Roger Michael, George Jarnukowski, Len Martin, Charles McDonald, Charlie Newton, Mike Key.
AA had a golf lesson with Coach Bryan (AA drove the car both ways). We went to the River House, I made a batch of corn dip for the weekend so took some of that. Actually was bearable sitting outside.
Sunday: Made a large batch of chili in the slow-cooker for dinner and to freeze. I also baked popovers and they did not "pop" - looked like mini-muffins, they did taste good, will need to find a different recipe!
Went to Carolyn's, took Publix subs for lunch, swam in pool. Tyler has decided to go back to Maine to help his Dad for a few months (hand surgery, furniture building), will leave after Labor Day.
Adding salt to her pool.
Having a laugh together:
This week continues to have daily pop-up rain showers, some quite stormy, but not enough rain consistently over all NE Florida, still have very low water in ponds. Hope to have some tropical storms soon so can recharge our water supplies.

NFJG Awards News from Director Jack

Continuing the NFJG Awards news from Jack:
2021-2022 NFJGTOUR Annual Awards Banquet at TPC Sawgrass. Many thanks to Dr. Bob Winters, PGATOUR Professional Russell Knox, past PGA President Derek Sprague, PGA Member Duke Butler III, and Northern Chapter President Matt Borocz, Partner Adam Oerther,  Times Union Sports Writer Garry Smits, NFJGTOUR Staff and 160 members of the NFJG Foundation for a wonderful Awards Banquet celebrating outstanding achievements of our junior golfers.

Link to the newsletter Director Jack sent out:
Another great junior golf tournament season has officially come to an end and the juniors now move on to compete in high school golf in hopes of making it to STATES and to college as they set their path for the future. The last event of the season is the “Banquet Outing – nine holes on the Stadium Course followed by the “Annual Awards Banquet” where the members, NFJG Foundation Board of Directors, staff, partners and invited guests gather to recognize the accomplishments of so many deserving juniors.
In all, twenty-seven junior players received forty-five awards at this year’s awards celebration with Player of the Year Award winners Alyzabeth Morgan and Cameron Reed receiving six and five awards respectively for their outstanding seasons. Player of the Year Ambrose Kinnare hailing from the WGV King and Bear won eleven times this season and Eagle Harbor’s Alyzabeth Morgan won four times. Our guest speaker, Dr. Bob Winters blew us away with a powerful and eye-opening presentation and statement on the power of “Believe.” PGATOUR Professional and NFJG Foundation Ambassador Russell Knox was on hand for this year’s banquet and provided keen advice on preparing for and focus of playing, being patient, picking yourself up after a bad shot and above all being respectful to one another.
Six juniors (Tommy Piper, Jack Hardy, Anabelle Mozingo, Sarah Harpster, Thomas Cush, and Alanis Santiago) were acknowledged for receiving scholarships this year. All who are already deep into the books at their respective houses of learning. Ms. Yulee, Amelia Santiago read a letter of thanks written by her sister Alanis to the audience of 160 people.

Loved that Russell Know took time to be at the banquet and speak about four important things of golf (being honest, be on time, surround with people with your best interest and listen to them).

NFJG TPC Sawgrass Outing and Awards Banquet!

AA enjoyed playing the back nine holes at the Champions Course with four other young ladies. They scored -5 for seven holes.
Coach Bryan and Mentor LPGA Stephanie Connelly Eisworth attended the Awards Banquet as our guests (note that no other coaches were there, just parents). We felt these two (and Penny Reynen who attend a few years ago with us) should enjoy the limelight with AA, all the hard work they put into lessons and golfing with her.
Playing the back nine, they began on Hole 16 (made Par), birdied Hole 17 (AA's ball landed on the back of the green and rolled into the water but her teammate made it to the green, then AA putted in the 20 foot to make the birdie).
Homework on the way to the TPC:
Paired with Veona:
Ashley Mikesell, Veona Osborne, Addy Vogt, Sophia Rivera and AA:
Hole 16: Five girls deciding on which ball to use (shamble):
Only two made it on the 17th green. AA made a very long putt for the birdie.
Addy, Ashley, Sophia, Veona, AA:
Awards were announced two week ago, posted on this blog, August 03, 2022. AA said it is embarrassing receiving so many awards. We are proud of the Jack Nicklaus award as someone nominated her and the players voted for her. Sweet!
Director Jack spoke about "Golf is Good".
Dr. Bob Winters - "The Confidence Doctor" spoke at the 2022 NFJG  Annual Awards Banquet. He spoke of the qualities in the Wizard of Oz, Dorothy's confidence, having a heart, brain/intelligence and courage. Take one step at a time, each golf swing each hole, take one step only.
Happy Coach Bryan and Stephanie could attend:

Returned to the High School (above), then arriving home:
Tuesday 08/23/22: Bartram Trails and SJCDS - home game at FIGC.
Bartram Trails won as FI Girls team all played a bit off and Bartram Trails won with all four seniors. AA had one bad hole and still managed to have tied the low round for the match with a Bartram Trails Senior. Golf team season has begun!
