Weeks Go By..... 02/29/20

Saturday, Leap Day! While AA was at Carolyn's for one quick night (after the robotics States), we went to the River House for one drink, was crowded with a retirement party of Janet Coleman. So we headed to Red's Wine Bar and snacked and drank, sampling new wines. Relaxing while still processing the information about the new virus, coronas - COVID-19.

02/25/20: I mailed "sisters" mugs to Terri and Melissa. I found them on line, cute to customize with Terri holding coffee and Melissa a beer. I think they liked them.
From Mel: You're Welcome ... Ford Alyson Cobb Morgan .... Exactly! Too Wonderful!!!!! Miles and Age Do Separate Us . .. But Our Hearts Don't ...

Robotics State Competition -OPJH

Alyzabeth’s Team Is in the FTC first tech challenge division. Made up primarily of high school students. Busy week for the team, set up on Friday at the Prime Osborne Convention Center in Jacksonville, FL. Then all day Saturday until 5:30 p.m. (they didn't stay for the awards, which is normally something we do out of respect for all teams but AA wanted to get to her sleep over with Carolyn).

Waiting, lots of waiting:
Trying to visit with AA who does NOT want her picture taken! Lunch was provided by several parents (kids paid $5). There was a few food trucks and inside food court. This worked out well, as the weather was sunny but chilly, I think they enjoyed the outside break.
Competing:
The team won one of six challenges, so finished 24th or 30 teams in their bracket (there was at least one other bracket). Many things to improve for next year. She's enjoyed working on the coding and will lead the coding team next year. She's tired and now heading to Carolyn's for a mental and physical break!

OPJH Wildcats Field Trip to Tallahassee

AA went on her 7th grade field trip on Monday, 02/24/20, the day after coming back from her Disney trip with Ian.
They visited the new capital building, the Govenor's office, observation deck, Florida Supreme Court and presentations on how the court system works. Then to Wakulla Springs State Park with a boat ride (longest and deepest submerged freshwater cave system), finally a tour of FSU with dinner at the Seminole Cafe.

Catching Up From Orlando Weekend

While Ford and AA were in Orlando, I unpacked LOTS of Grammie's china. Then off to the River House. Little did we know this would be the last time our group would get together as Hugh and Maureen were ahead of the curve and started self-sheltering at home earlier than anyone else we knew.

Waving to Ford and AA, we miss them! Can't remember where Penny was, usually at a U.S. Kids Golf Tournament.

NFJG Azalea Golf Tournament in Palatka

February 22 and 23rd. AA played on this very challenging Donald Ross course, hilly, right next to the Ravines State Park and it was in fine shape. Palatka seems to keep the golf going plus group volunteer and sponsor this junior tournament. Palatka really supports these events. She placed overall third, pretty good! Ms. Penny watched on Sunday and I made it for the back nine (which was the front nine since she began on Hole 10 on Sunday). Round 1 was played with Ashley Huffman and Hannah Stevens. Round 2, AA was in the final pairing with Lisa Colee, the leader and A. Huffman.
Plus, AA received/earned exemptions for the First Coast Women's Tournament and the Florida Junior Team.

Beautiful azaleas:
The end!
Many photos I "borrowed" from NFJG Jack's album.

Ian Bailey's Trip to Disney Hollywood!

AA was invited to be a part of Ian Bailey's Make a Wish trip to Disney. The Collin's and Hausman families came and from the stories AA told, they had a great time.
Friday, The Collin's picked up AA and Ford  and off they went, having a fast food dinner on the road. Arriving at the rental home at 9:30 p.m. all unpacked and visited until late.

Thankful for the Collins and Bailey's who took the photos while Ford stayed at the home and prepared their dinner.
It was a cool weekend.
Ian's Mom, Shannon with AA, the "girls" stuck together:
Lots of group photos:
Rental Home kitchen:
AA had fun, there was some waiting time, but overall wonderful weekend with her friends!
A final photo of hugs! Can’t get over the love we feel. We have been blessed by knowing these people.

Happy Friday, Valentines Day Weekend thru President's Day!

Happy Valentines Day!
From Ford: Funny story. When I was dropping Alyzabeth off at school. I asked her what should we do tonight for Valentine’s Day. She looked at me and said I don’t know she’s your wife. :-)

VERSE OF THE DAY

1 Corinthians 13:4

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
Here's true love: AA and her Ginger!
Gifts from my Mom:
Saturday, AA had Robotics practice, getting ready for the "State"competition on the 29th. We went to the River House, enjoyed many appetizers, I made blue cheese stuffed celery with dried fig, honey and chives. Pretty good!
Sunday, we ran some errands, ate leftover spaghetti, we were going to see Carolyn but she wasn't feeling well.
We ended the long weekend, Monday, with AA having a headache and fever by noon on Monday, just as she was practicing her golf. Some liquid Tylenol and a long nap, helped.

Mom’s Birthday Weekend! Part 1

Flew to Maine Friday, arrived at 1:20 pm, on time, a little bumpy from Chicago. Mom picked me up, we purchased two new iPhone XR’s and ate lunch at Bob’s with Melissa.

Mom beating me at cribbage:
Snow!
Saturday's Party!
Mom is surprised!
Lots of greeting and hugging:
More Photos to follow.
