Week of May 23rd

Monday, we made the decision to not attend the USA Today High School Sports Award Ceremony at Peabody Hall in Daytona Beach. AA was nominated for Golfer of the Year (Girls). We considered going but decided yesterday that with AA's finals this week, a commitment to play golf with Ms. Penny on Tuesday and the fact we would be driving home at midnight on a school night.... so we passed.
So Monday was our usual routine, my work, Ford and I walked the Black Creek Trail again (1 mile long, the shady southern section).
Took pictures of our poblano pepper plant so I will see the growth when I return from Maine/Washington DC.
AA went to her normal Monday, 3 p.m. golf lesson at FIGC, then stayed for the PGA Jr. Team individual and group photos.
Ordered new golf shoes:

Tuesday: Donna came and cleaned the house, so thankful for her! Ford and I grocery shopped, visited with Larry Bradley, dumped our recyclables, went to the library. Tree Tech, Laurie, Penny, River House? I made a new, simple recipe with cheese tortellini, tomatoes, basil and spinach.

Summer ideas for teens:
Wednesday: Half day of school. AA's last two finals! Ford's dentist follow up visit. He and AA drove to TPC to get her new driver. Then to the PGA Jr. team practice session. I made orange chicken in the crockpot for dinner.
Thursday: Half day of school. Saw Downton Abbey Movie with AA and Kathy. Ford cooked fried fish for dinner, while we drank poinsettias.
Friday: Half day of school - LAST day of school. AA is now a sophomore! Finished packing for our trip. AA and I swam at Carolyn's until dark clouds dumped rain on us! Mellow Mushroom pizza for an easy dinner.
Saturday: AA and I fly to Maine!

Week of May 16th

Monday: Ford went to his PD exercises and I worked. AA has only ten days of school left! Beautiful mornings - still in the mid-60's but hot afternoons! AA had her golf lesson with Coach Bryan.
Tuesday: We attended AA's Freshman Award Ceremony, she was awarded the Principal's Academic Award.
Took AA to San Jose Golf Club to practice (play nine holes) with Stephanie.
AA is far left chipping:
Finishing 9th hole:
So happy to have AA play with Stephanie!
Wednesday: We attended the River House renewal for members only (held three days, get one free drink and appetizers) with Hugh, Maureen and Kathy. They thought the music was too loud and it was crowded.
Thursday: Hair-coloring day!
Friday: Ford and I walked the Black Creek path again, grocery shopped and had lunch at Maple Street Biscuit.
AA scored a 105 on her algebra test - yahoo! Then we took AA to her Friday Fitness session with the PGA Jr. teams.
Saturday: We enjoyed a visit with Carolyn and relaxed in her pool. I made a new salad with chickpeas, feta cheese, radishes, quinoa, snow pea pods, dill, garlic/red wine marinate, avocado, tomatoes, romaine lettuce. Very healthy and hearty.
Carolyn shared her garden bounty with us!
New salad recipe:
Ford and I went to the RH alone, had a strong thunderstorm while there, but still enjoyed sitting at the outside bar while an 80th birthday party was in full swing.
Sunday: We had a quiet morning, vacuumed, did laundry, dishes, etc. AA volunteered for her Girls PGA Jr. match at FIGC. Coach Bryan giving the results:
Ford cooked salmon while I steamed green beans and summer squash from Carolyn's garden!
Another good week comes to an end.
