Last Weekend in April!

Saturday, Sunday and Monday! {my days off!}
The only useful thing I did was give myself a pedicure:

AA played nine holes, a warm day, 88 degrees.
Played game of WAR, AA beat her Daddy and me!
Happy Hour on the back deck.
Champagne Sunday! We enjoyed sitting on the back deck, a beautiful day.
AA played the front nine holes.
Hole 1:
A smile!
Ford watching AA:
Monday, AA completed a school civic patriotic assignment.
Liv's 14th birthday on Monday. Ford took a card and money in advance. We drove by and gave her flowers and candy, chatted on their lawn for a few minutes. She thanked us for the money as she was saving for a new phone.
Back to work tomorrow and I work on Saturday, May 2nd!

Week of April 20th - 24th: Still Sheltering at Home

Another fine week, had more rain than wanted but sunshine by the weekend! AA will continue virtual school until June 3rd I believe. I took a couple of photos before AA golfed on Monday.

My sister Terri, sent us many of her homemade masks, very well made. When we took this photo we forgot that each one had a nose metal piece, don't know if we have them upside down for the photo (of course we figured it out after the photo!).
AND, she gave us some of her up-cycle chicken feed bags she sewed! Amazing her talent!
Truth Matters! Have to remind ourselves every day (#45 speaks of injecting disinfectant into our bodies; so many lies, he may be up to 10,000!).
Thursday, Ford and AA drove to St. Augustine to drop off a birthday card and money for Liv's upcoming birthday. Leaa said Liv wants to buy a new phone, so asking for gift of money. Alyzabeth made a new recipe (practiced on one loaf the day before), the apple bread went to work with me and very yummy!
Thursday evening, Ford made burgers on the grill, windy spring weather - love sitting on the back deck, waving at the golfers driving by. AA played 18 holes, had a headache, very unusual for her, she stayed in her bedroom and "vegged".
Ford:
Ginger:
Friday afternoon, AA seemed tired, actually fell asleep on the floor when playing with Ginger, then hopped on our bed.
Asleep on the floor!!
By Friday evening, I was tired from work, so took a walk with AA to see if she was okay, then a quick walk with Ginger. Just to note how COVID-19 is moving along, the State of Georgia has opened up most businesses, with rules, but still open! We think a bit too soon. The weekend is here!

Weekend Including Monday

Several gardening tasks were accomplished over my three day weekend. Ford re-potted four vegetable plants bought for our patio garden. He killed my basil plant (by adding a rooting chemical, thinking it would be fine as a fertilizer) so we took a drive to Maggie’s on Saturday morning. We were the third car there and everyone kept their distance. We were very FAST selecting our plants and zipped out and headed home. I bought a new basil plant and divided into four plants. I bought four zinnias for a pop of color also an oregano plant and Ford bought a pepper plant. Plus the beautiful Florida Lavender plant is on our front lawn.

After, divided:
Still have plenty of free aloe to give away.

Pepper plants:
This was very exciting to see. No idea what it was made for.
We continue to meal planning much better than we did pre-COVID-19. We ate Ford's homemade pizza Friday, Saturday was chicken salad (Outlaw), then Sunday was spaghetti and meatballs (and leftovers on Monday dinner) and I set up the crock pot for Tuesday's meal of red beans and rice. We have plenty of frozen foods and will continue to patronize a local restaurant once per week (carry out/curb-side).
Sunday, AA coordinated a surprise video chat for Jane Weigand’s 13th birthday. Her Mom, Jill, sent out a message about sending birthday cards as they could not celebrate (AA made a homemade one and mailed it). AA asked Jill if she would help with surprising Jane by having her friends call her at 1 p.m. on Sunday (19th). It went well, except some kids were playing on-line video games while the others were trying to talk, a bit rude. AA on her bed during the call:
Still working on emptying garage boxes, made head way by consolidating many China 2008 items.
Saturday night watched part of the concert "One World - Together at Home" - Rolling Stones:
AA is late for her braces adjustment appointment, need to call and see what needs to be done.
I made biscuits Sunday morning; enjoyed leftover Easter ham with them.
Monday, we did house chores, stripping beds, dishes, laundry, etc. I wrote three thank you notes.
We filled up the car with gas and visited Penny (just driveway waves). A nice weekend with AA and Ford!

Birthday Week!

With time on my hands, I have been posting on this blog and putting too much on Facebook!
There have been many posts about the Class of 2020 cannot have the traditional celebrations due to the COVID-19. We posted our senior high photos on Facebook: Typical message:
In honor of the Class of 2020! We are sorry about the circumstances, Class of 2020. We are really proud of your accomplishments and look forward to hearing all about them, one way or the other. Stay home and stay safe.

Advance High School 1969 (Missouri - Ford) and Deering High School 1976 (Maine - Alyson)
Monday was very wet, with about an inch of rain, so no golfing today. We ate left overs, emptied one large box in the garage (pretty pathetic!!) and took a "joy" ride to Pat's Nursery (did not stop) and drove around Ridgeview High School, one of AA's possible choices for high school. We have been eating too much so Ford and I had popcorn for dinner! Rain!!
AA walking Ginger:
Tuesday, we celebrated my birthday with apple cobbler/pie (leftover from Talon’s Easter dinner). AA and Ford had a plan to bake a new apple cake recipe, but since we don’t eat many desserts, asked them to postpone a day or two. I received flowers from Leaa and family, gardening supplies from Hubby which we needed to spruce up our patio/pot garden, the lobster dinner from Mom and an interlock bracelet from Melissa (and a cute Maine canvas shoulder phone/wallet holder). Many snail-mail cards, a homemade card from Kimee and about 130 Facebook birthday wishes.
Flowers from Leaa, Jesse and family:
Bracelet from Melissa:
We lit the Chinese lotus flower candle and enjoyed Bruschetta for dinner, a favorite “meatless” meal.
From Dick Blaisdell, he always sends something original:
Lilacs spring bloom with a butterfly sipping nectar.
Down of thistle travels on whims of wind.

Seeds split rock with sheer determination.
Trees Grow and seek light.
 Birthdays like leaves unfold;
Flowers fragrance abounds,
Birds sing over three deer along a trail.
The smallest lags behind
Takes a bite of sumac,
And tarries no more.
Follows the leader,
To where food is galore.
Happiest of birthdays. Love  Dick

Back to work for me on Wednesday and AA continues her on line schooling. At this point in the grading period, she has two grades per class, all A’s. She doesn’t care for this type of school, her classes are mainly homework style, very little live teaching. Wednesday evening we joined a live “gig” by Shane Myers, he’s a very good local musician and singer, not sure if he earned some tips, these live shows are more common for out of work performers.
Terri received our homemade birthday cards:
 Aunt-T is the garden guru!
Kimee Henderson received our homemade cards:
Homemade apple cake by AA and Ford!
There was over three inches of rain since Sunday night, so golfing was delayed a few days. Friday, Ford and AA took a drive to Green Cove Springs, stopped by the park and bought lunch at Sweet Sensations, we love their outlaw chicken salad.
Work is progressing, the Unit 1 Turbine concrete foundation/ pedestal is being "wrecked":
When I arrived home from work, we enjoyed a virtual happy hour with Hugh and Maureen, we miss our meet ups with them, Kathy and Penny. The weekend is here!!
