NFJG Oak Marsh - 3rd Place

AA and Ford left early, at 6:15. She has the first tee time of the tournament, very brisk this morning and should be sunny and almost 70 degrees today. Sunrise driving to Amelia:
Oak Marsh is one of the truly classic Pete Dye-designed golf courses in the world, is noted for its tight fairways and small greens, meandering along serpentine salt marsh creeks and through the moss draped heritage oaks for which Amelia Island is famous.
Elite Girls: 5560 yards. 8:30 AM Hole 1: Tylar Ann Whiting, Alyzabeth Morgan, Sofia Rivera.
Ford said putting was difficult today for most everyone. AA said she just needed to improve on everything - golf is always a work in progress! Third place - Sophia and AA:
Next is Bent Creek is next Sunday.
Director Jack's Newsletter: It was great to back up in Amelia Island once again for the “2022 Oak Marsh Challenge.  We are incredibly lucky to have gotten the event in as popular that golf is these days. Many thanks to event coordinator Alana Baylon and the Professional Staff at the resort for making this happen amongst all their member and resort guest play.
What was supposed to be a mid-70’s+ temperature day with calm winds turned out to be a little cooler than thought, but the kicker was the 20mph+winds that came out of the northwest. The winds made for some hair pulling moments when the ball was in the area. The scores, as expected were much higher than expected, but it was fair for all. Make the proper adjustments and you were golden. The course was in excellent condition with greens fast and some pretty testy pin locations which added a few more strokes to the score.
In the Elite Tour Girls division St. Augustine’s Sofia Rivera was back in the winner’s circle. Rivera posted a fine score of 83 which included a very chancing shot on her final hole to go for the par-5 in two.  With a pure swing she would carry the marsh some two hundred yards, avoid the well defended green lined with bunkers and have a 20-foot putt for eagle. Her two-putt birdie would the right call as she nipped the hard charging Anaiya Nahar (84) by a single stroke. Finishing in the third spot was Fleming Island’s Alyzabeth Morgan (87p) beating Lexi Milbrandt and Sadaly Campbell in a scorecard playoff.

Week of March 21st!

Weather has been up and down all week, sunshine then 3 inches of rain on Thursday!
Monday:  Ford went to his PD exercises; I worked from home each morning, catching up from some searches from spring break week.
AA and Ford went to Oak Marsh for a practice round. Lovely day, windy.
Leftover corned beef and cabbage for dinner.
Tuesday: Back to school for AA! Went to the River House (very windy, but nice and cool), met Kathy. Hugh arrived home from rehab so is resting. Bruschetta for dinner. Took a few photos, cool and breezy!
Manager Kelly and Owner Bill:
An elementary school friend of Jeff W.'s Mom painted the scene:
Wednesday: Leftover turkey dinner with gravy, yummy again! And big news for the Missouri Morgan's - Kaci (Bill's daughter) announced that their son, Lane and wife Hannah are expecting in September.
Thursday: RAIN ALL DAY!! The HERenovation team arrived (Kim and Marty) to complete our "handyman" list of 18 tasks (everything from changing lightbulbs, painting the garage door, installing new hard wired smoke detectors, adding closet shelving, caulking an exterior window, fixing our outside water fountain, installing new towel bars, hanging two mirrors, replacing a medicine cabinet, etc.).
Eagle Harbor: Went to Stephanie's "going away party". She begins her new job at San Jose (private club) with benefits! She will still live in EH but we will see her less often!
Tuscan Salmon from Command Cooking. Delicious over salmon, with sun-dried tomatoes, fresh spinach, onions, garlic (five cloves!)
Tried a new ready rice, cooks in just a few minutes:
Friday: Ford took Ginger to the groomers. HERenovation team back to finish the list of odd jobs. I went to Stephanie's last Friday Women's group lesson at EH:
Saturday: Parkinson's Support Group meeting at 10 a.m., was very informative with a Neurologist doctor speaking.
Met Kathy at the River House, Hugh is still recovering.
Sunday: NFJG at Oak Marsh, Amelia - refer to separate post. I did dishes, laundry, walked Ginger, cleaned our spice cabinet, moved some boxes in the garage, grocery shopped, read work emails, etc. Photo of spice rack after cleaned and reorganized.
I made a new recipe, Chicken Divan for dinner; includes broccoli, onion, cheddar cheese and mushrooms.

Spring Break - Trip to Missouri and Virginia

Sunday: We made it to Cape Girardeau (13 hour drive) and checked into our downtown hotel, Courtyard by Marriott. We had dinner across the street (and three blocks closer to the river) at Minglewood Brewery.
Inside café at the Courtyard hotel:
Explains the history of the two buildings renovated/joined to make the hotel:
Monday: Met with Kaci, talked about our burial plans, visited with Ben (and Bill was there) and "Aunt" Linda.
Inside Kaci's office:
Visiting Ben:
"Aunt" Linda; always nice seeing her!
Tuesday drove to Abingdon, VA (long drive due to construction delays of over an hour). Stayed in Jim's friend's home (is on AirBNB), Sharlene and David Warren, called River Barn, just two miles from Jim's home. We enjoyed a dinner of snacks - a charcuterie board. So many cheeses, hard meats, breads, fruit, pickles, etc. They showed us to the vacation home and we had a great nights sleep.
Wednesday. Separate post for March 16th.
Thursday: Drove home to Fleming Island, picked up Ginger from Carolyn's home.
Friday: AA had a golf lesson, I worked, and caught up with chores and laundry. We were told by Kathy that Hugh broke his hip last Saturday night, had hip replacement surgery and is in rehab. He seems to be doing well.
We were told by Bryan that he has accepted a job at Fleming Island Golf Course as EH is cutting/reducing the time youth can play in the development programs (PGA Jr. teams, Operation 36, etc.).
Saturday: Drove to Justin's to drop off Kilee's birthday gift. I cooked corned beef and cabbage for dinner.
Went to RH happy hour with Kathy and Maureen. I made a mini-chartoterie board (not very successful, hard to transport and set-up).
Beautiful amaryllis in full bloom:
Sunday: I worked for a couple of hours.
AA went to the OP Mall, met with OJH friends Angel Zheng (Ridgeview HS) and Kevin Taing (FIHS).
AA had a golf session with Coach Bryan.
I roasted turkey breasts, made mashed potatoes, had Larry B. over for dinner. Delicious!
Larry always brings great wine:
