Monday, May 20th - Liv's Graduation Week - Daily Radiation

Monday, 20th: Alyzabeth got off to school on time after eating my leftovers from yesterday Hawker's lunch.

We began making the Rice Krispie treats at 7:10 am, I went to Publix after first batch was in the pan, the bags of mini marshmallows was 10 ounces and we needed 16 ounce bags.
After making both batches it was off to Ford’s Parkinson’s exercises. I drove off to get some errands done: took the AT&T modem to UPS, dropped the spare Black Subaru key at Suburban, then to post office to nail the EMSI muscle stimulator and put in a change of address for Larry’s mail (which took a while - they needed copies of will, death certificate and my drivers license. I drove back to pick up Ford while getting a quick chat in with Terri and Mom.
The latest on Melissa is they found a different area that was retaining fluid, thicker so not draining - infection area. Hopefully will decide soon about clearing out the fluid and getting on a different antibiotic.
Leaving the Clay County Utility office (and disconnecting the power at the Sheldon Rd home), we had lunch at Nicole’s on the River (on Blanding just south of College Drive).
Radiation: began preparing Fire at 1:27 and done in 15 minutes. Ford had some light skin blistering but came out fine. He took a 1 mg Ativan; hoping he can manage with 0.5 mg soon.
Back home, I went to Bank of America and was so happy to have Juanita helping me along with Estate Representative Yolanda (on phone). We able to get the one remaining CD (that was in Charlotte's name) and the 401 K funds deposited in the Estate account (in my name). Once home, I spread seven bags of mulch, took a shower and made dinner of a salad and chicken tenders (I marinated and cooked).
The Voice is on (American Idol finale was last night). We received confirmation that our mortgage was paid off! Thank you Larry!!
Tuesday, 21st: Busy morning, I cut up the Rice Krispie treats, packed for tonight. We did laundry and general picking up. Donna came and cleaned our home (she was off last week due to getting her cancer "remission" scans).
Melissa had a tube inserted to help drain more thick fluid/having it flushed out. Terri drove to be at the hospital.
Physical therapy at 10:15 a.m. Radiation treatment at 1:30 p.m.
Liv's high school graduation - separate post.
Lunch at Five Guys Burgers - really delicious burgers.
Wednesday, 22nd: Mia came for a quick morning visit, we enjoyed a Starbucks (skinny vanilla latte, breve latte and Ford's lemonade) and chatted about her schedule; we all chatted for about an hour and a half catching up on Mia's schedule for the summer. She is selling her RV trailer and will be in Georgia for a while then at a conference in Dallas where Mike’s sister lives; then on June 9 at Middleburg and we will see her then for a while as she house sit for 3 to 4 weeks. She will be back in Jacksonville for a reggae concert on August 1 with Madison and Mauli's family so we will see her then too. I plan to rent an Airbnb that first week in August so hopefully we can all get together. After Mia left, I tried to rest for a short time, instead spoke to Terri about Melissa. Ford took his Ativan pill one hour before his radiation appointment, I walked for ten minutes, got is a very short call with Mom.
After Ford's appointment, we decided to go out for an early dinner as we did not have any lunch. All three of us went to MoJo's for BBQ. Ford ordered a FULL order of the fried onion rings appetizer - huge amount! We all took home most of our dinner.
Once home, we slowed down, some TV, walked Ginger, fixed AA's school lunch for tomorrow.
Thursday, 23rd: Thursday morning went by quickly as Ford had his radiation at 9:30 in the morning, not in the afternoon. We got to the appointment and all went smooth, except for the computer froze up so during the procedure, so Ford had to lay there a bit longer while they rebooted the computer. Afterwards, we bought six more bags of mulch for the front yard project and went to Winn-Dixie and Publix for different groceries including fresh pizza dough for our dinner tonight. Once home, we had leftovers of spaghetti and meatballs and then froze the remaining that we didn’t eat. Once Alyzabeth got home, walked Ginger she got ready for her college algebra test and we went to the River House for a glass of wine. It was nice and warm, but with a breeze off the river, it was enjoyable to sit on the deck.  Once home, Alyzabeth and Ford decorated the pizza and in the oven. I’ve been feeling a bit down being tired, my sinuses, throat hurt, but not enough to slow me down but enough to know that I’m catching something or having sinus problems. Took a ZyrtecD and hope that helps.
Ginger enjoying an outside peek:
Spoke to Terri a couple times today on Melissa‘s progress. She did have an endoscopy this evening to see if there’s any problems, holes or leaks and they found none. They may adjust her chest tube tomorrow as she still needs to drain more fluid. She will probably spend the third weekend in the hospital.
Friday, 24th: Still feeling bad. We got AA off to school and we relaxed, I made a corn bread using some cornbread mix we had in the pantry that needed using. Started laundry. Off to Publix for our sheet pan dinner tonight, and Firehouse Subs for lunch. Radiation treatment was at 1:30 p.m.
Spoke to Terri early, Melissa is resting a little better, but the Doctor said they will reposition the chest tube further back to try to get more fluid out. Terri's evening report said Melissa survived the new drain tube, still has some back pain and short of breath. Hope this tube helps! I am not feeling well, not sure if sinuses or cold, very tired with no temperature. I did make dinner with chicken and vegetables (onion, asparagus, potatoes, carrots, mushrooms and garlic).
Saturday, 25th: Still feeling bad, cough, sore throat, not sure if it is from post-nasal drip. We did go to Dylan's dance recital (separate post), hoping I only have sinus issues. Amazing how many dances Dylan learns for four shows this weekend. On the drive over, we looked at homes for sale in Augustine Shores and South. There are some nice homes but many not so nice, seems expensive for the area. AA drove us home.
We read on Facebook that Joan's grandson is engaged to Emily (they are both doctors). Amy and Matt's daughter Libby is also engaged and wedding date is October 5th.
Sunday, 26th: I woke up still feeling bad, so did not go to church. I basically laid in bed for hours. We were going to Carolyn's but just not feeling well and Ford has had an upset stomach since morning. After a long rest, AA and I did drive to Betty and Fount's grave to place flags and a penny each. After picking up a few things at Publix (mob scene) we ate some of Ford's pinto beans (he cooked this morning) and my home baked cornbread. Back in bed while AA worked on her homework.
We ended the day watching TV, Chipotle's for dinner and the good news that Melissa may be discharge from her 16 day hospital stay!

Dylan's Dance Recital - Greatest Hits

Dylan performed in so many dances over four shows this weekend. Amazing how she has the energy and moves to do so much! Leaa is on the Board of Directors. I took a picture of Ford and his three kids:

After the show, dancer Dylan!

Alivia's High School Graduation!

Our second granddaughter has graduated from St. Augustine High School! She was named in many awards. Family Photos over the years: 2010:

2024: Liv and Tristen Langhorne:
Ford and I headed over to Saint Augustine amphitheater to go to Liv‘s graduation ceremony. We met Carl and Marsha at Tristen‘s Mom's house on San Juan St; then drove and parked at the amphitheater, we were one of the last cars to get in, can’t believe how crowded it was. Leaa saved us seats so we sat together with Nicole, Jordan, Avery, Mila, Cara Pearl, Justin, Kilee, Carl and Marsha. Alyzabeth did not go as she had two AICE tests the next day, a make-up math test and her college algebra test. It was a good graduation ceremony, the speakers were very nice and short, thankfully as after about an hour they started handing out the 420+ diplomas.  We saw Liv walk across the stage, and then Ford was needing to go stand and move around due to his back sitting in the chairs. During the opening of the national anthem, the Color Guard presentation, and Liv with other chorus members sang the song. We drove with Carl and Marsha back to Tristan‘s Mom‘s (Martha) home, but Carl was a bit anxious and hungry so he drove back to his home. There was some communication where Marsha felt she needed to get home so we drove her home and then back to the graduation party.  The party was very sweet, lots of food plus Liv‘s home baked cupcakes and our Rice Krispie treats plus a chocolate cake and plenty of munch food (a professional charcuterie board). It was very good along with a champagne toast (we provided 8 bottles). We are so proud of Liv and Tristen who will both go to UCF this fall.  We drove home and of course Ginger woke up barking so poor Alyzabeth got her sleep disturbed, we were in bed by about 1 AM.

May 13th - May 19th

Monday: We had our usual morning getting Alyzabeth off to school with breakfast and her lunch. We had a stressful day waiting on news about Melissa's emergency surgery on Sunday. She seems to be recovering, needs a few more days in ICU, Terri has been providing updates.
We started cooking the remaining raw country style ribs; Ford had frozen the extras that we did not cook yesterday, decided to cook the rest of them up today and have pork tacos for dinner tonight. After about an hour of our own time, getting ready, we went to Ford’s Parkinson exercises, I dropped him off and then went to Pat‘s Nursery and bought a roll of weed barrier fabric and six more bags of mulch. Once back to the Parkinson’s exercises at the Catholic Church, I walked for about 25 minutes while chatting with mom and we had no new information about Melissa, except that she was still in ICU and they would be working her through all the steps to get her to a regular hospital room in a day or two.  After the exercises, drove to the bank and deposited the check for the black Subaru (sold on Sunday to Greg at Suburban) then to ABC liquor and bought a case of champagne as we are bringing champagne to Liv's high school graduation party (after her graduation, which will be at Tristan‘s mom‘s home). We went to the eye doctor and purchased boxes of contacts for Alyzabeth and then to Publix for our grocery shopping - met up and chatted with David at Publix. He’s the golfer that has a dad that’s in the Massachusetts Hall of Fame. Once home we had leftovers for lunch and I started working in the yard doing landscaping, etc.
Pork tacos for an early dinner - AA went to a biology review session.
And catching up on miscellaneous stuff.

My political statement for the week. Back to basics - Human rights are for all humans.

Trying to not get stressed about #45's criminal trials - just know he will get off scott free - somehow he has people believing that everyone is against him. He is so rude, a bully, scummy and lies yet people vote for him!
Chris Brown posted pictures of Charlotte's car - Cheverolet Z24 1988:
Tuesday, 14th: We drove to Ford's PT, it was pouring rain, then stopped, so I did walk a little chatting with Mom. Ford and I went to Lowe's, purchased potting soil (for large pot in front yard), Roundup and bug spray. At Public, bought ingredient for Katie's Corn Dip as the appetizer for the River House. We went to Sweet Sensations for lunch and ran into Pastor Faith and her Mom (up from Fort Walton Beach to hear Abigail's school chorus concert). We chatted about her motorcycles and accidents (scar on forehead), a little about our history with the church and what to do with all of Charlotte's religious/Catholic items. We got back in our truck to discover tiny ants in Ford's soda - so bought ant traps at Walmart - hope they kill them all! I made bruschetta for dinner (after going to the River House - I took corn dip). AA stayed after school for her history review. Continued raining - a few storms have been rolling in, yesterday and today. watched the Voice, will be down to five contestants.
Basil plant, Hugh was going to throw it out, I think it is thriving in its new pot.
Wednesday: Worked on blog and got organized - getting ready to finish some tasks so Larry's probate can be closed.
Ford's CAT scan at Cancer Specialists. Pork tacos for dinner.
Thursday: Ford did not go to his Parkinson exercises; he had a back doctor appointment (Dr. Gil). All is good so far, so next appointment is three months out. We went to European Street for lunch, our usual sandwiches, Firey Turkey and Prince Andrew Heros. I took a quick walk around Memorial Park.
Marsha texted about finishing Larry/Charlotte's rocking chair - she's amazing!
We had a short-lived fright when Chris Brown called and said Marie had no records of him inheriting Larry's Middleburg property - I emailed, and all straightened out.
We left at 4:40 p.m. for Dylan's school dance recital. It was very professional, and not too long! Dylan is talented and plans to continue at the Jacksonville's Douglas Anderson School of the Arts. There were many students who shouted so loud when their favorite dancer was on the stage. A few family photos from Dylan's 8th Grade Murray School Dance (a Mother's Day gift from Leaa - a UCF t-shirt), giving Leaa 8 bottles of champagne for next Tuesday night (Graduation toast) and we drove home.
Friday: See separate post. Justin sent a photo of his fishing catch - red fish.
Saturday: We did house chores (AA vacuumed, we did laundry, dishes, etc.). AA and I went to the early movie (10:00 a.m.) to watch The Fall Guy with Ryan Gosling. Very good, funny, "Shoot Em Up" scenes, tons of stunts (everyone should have died 100 times!) a bit incomplete story line - not sure how the lead actor (who Ryan G. doubles as his stuntman) gets hooked up with the "bad guys".
AA and I went to Walmart to pick up a few items and Ford's prescriptions. With a little time to prepare the spaghetti sauce for dinner, we were off to the River House to meet with Kathy. Hugh and Maureen are in Tampa visiting family. Once we were home, eating dinner of spaghetti, we watched the Preakness (black-eyed-susan flowers) and AA picked the gray horse to win - Seize the Gray - and he won! We texted with Kathy and she said she picked him too - because she has always had a crush on the trainer (he's 88 years old now and she is 85!!). Too funny!
Sunday: Had coffee, chatted with Terri, Melissa is still recovering in the hospital - chest tube is out, watching the fluid in her lungs and her white blood cell count. I went to church, then we all went to Hawkers for lunch - the place was half empty - what a relief that we didn't have any wait to get a table. Food was delicious - but remind me not to order the spring rolls (only two of them and they are deep fried). We stopped at Fishweir Creek Brewery for a beer (Midway and Fishweir IPA) - just for Ford. Short visit and back home.
The Blunk's dropped off the AT&T modem I needed and then told me they have not changed the electric and water in their names! I will disconnect tomorrow and put in a change of address order!
We watched a recap of All Creatures Great and Small, had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for dinner, then the American Idol Finale.
