Labor Day Weekend in Maine Part 3 Saturday

Saturday: Morning chores and planning for Sunday guests. We went to the dump, shoveled dirt for Mel’s garden, went thru the free thrift area, Mel picked up a shirt, winter pants for possibly Kimee. We stopped at Sister’s Shop, nice furniture, purses, clothes. We bought beer and wine for Sunday.
I chopped up the peppers, onion, garlic, will finish Sunday morning.
I took a paddle board out to the little island, light breeze. Hung around, went to grocery again. Settled in watching TV. Melissa made oatmeal cookies. Mom baked a blueberry buckle.

Sunday: Finished the mango salsa, Mom asked me to move a table while I was still chopping, so said I would do in a few minutes. Mom started moving it herself, so I dried my hands, Mom had it out on the deck, I said just wait, I’m coming. Melissa started for Mom, I said I’ll be right there, “Mom told me to move it”. Melissa very meanly said “zip it” using her fingers to show pinched lips. I am so sad, teared up, so disrespectful. All she had to say was - she’ll help/get the table and I would have said thanks and gone back to chopping.
Melissa got the outside ready, chopped veggies for salad, did dishes. Hard to get her to slow down and let me help.
Jamie, Brandon, Kim and Terri arrived, Terri and I paddle boarded while the lake was calm. Terri sewed Kim’s stuffed octopus.

Monday: Labor Day.
LSL merchandise, bought two long sleeve tops, 2024 calendar. Visited with Ray Walsh and Carol, they host a 4th of July and Labor Day "Dough-Boy" brunch with homemade fried dough, similar to beignet's, plus mimosas, coffee. We met a couple, he went to UMO, played baseball (graduated 1973). Ray will retire at age 66/10 months; his birthday is in February (1959).
We stopped at a NAPA store and bought a new battery for the Sea-doo. Then off to shop, met Terri with Melissa at LL Bean. I bought jeans and a skirt on sale; Terri stocked up on three pants/jeans and two tops. We decided to eat at Mast Landing, but they were closed, so to a favorite, Gritty McDuff's. Enjoyed fired haddock tacos, Reuban sandwich and Terri ordered fried clams.
At Gritty's:
We parted ways and back to the lake. The mosquitos have been horrid, sitting outside, really bad this year. We snacked a little, but still full from lunch. Melissa put the new battery in the Sea-doo, and with some difficulty starting it, it eventually ran well BUT there is something wrong with it, started fine, just wouldn't stay stated, after about 20 tries, it did stay running - needs a checkup or new spark plugs or - Richardson's will get to figure out when they winterize it.
Tuesday: Early morning, working for a few hours. Another beautiful day! Mom and I went to Bradbury State Park, Mom walked a bit at the base while I went to the top.
The top!
Mom walked part-way, waiting for me on my descent:
Jim came with Aunti Jean, we had a lunch of bruschetta and many leftovers. Jim and I went for a swim, the water was divine! Terri arrived in time to visit.
After they left, we changed and got ready to meet up with Britney, Andrew, Chloe (Hilary was a no-show - said she didn't get my texts, even though we talked about this dinner date for two days). Sebago Brew-Pub was fine, not crowded, enjoyed good food, appetizer of hummus and Tzatziki. I had clam chowder (still full from lunch) and two 5 ounce beers. Terri tried their orange chicken and said it was delicious.
We came home to a warm evening, not too warm for me.
