Labor Day Weekend in Maine Part 2

September 1st: Friday: Woke up early, worked for a couple of hours, Melissa made banana bread, was our snack/breakfast food. Mom and I drove to Terri’s, stopping to buy Italian sandwiches at Amato’s.
Visited with Terri and Dick, picked green beans in her garden plus a large zucchini, lemon verbena, kale, Swiss chard, cucumbers. Beautiful day, sunny. Terri showed me her flower meadow, plans to choke out more of the grass. Dick is a wealth of plant information. We stayed until 1:45, then back to camp to regroup.
We drove the hour to Hilary’s new home 65 Hanson Lane, Hollis. Very close to the Saco River, and two towns. Her small home (about 800 sq. feet), will be off the grid, have her small office building beside it, will double for a guest room eventually. The loft will be another sitting area, with a pullout bed.
Hilary grilled us zucchini, mushrooms and hamburgers, with potato salad (with bacon) and watermelon. She has cousin Leech’s visiting Saturday.

We drive home, Melissa had the fire pit going, so enjoyed the lake until I said Uncle and went to bed.
