Another HOT July Week - July 17th

Monday 17th: Ford went to Parkinson exercises and I worked a few hours. Dropped off AA's books at the library and bought Kaluha so that I can make the cookies Cliffreda made for us. The "deck repair guy" came and is tearing into our rotten deck. Will be at least a three day project replacing joists and adding the proper footing near the house foundation and for the railing posts (wasn't done right originally).
Alyzabeth had her Spanish lesson with Laureen at 7 p.m.
I made a loaf of chocolate banana bread (leftover bananas from AA's sleep over, no one ate them!):
Tuesday 18th: AA had PT with Drew (Lisa is on vacation). Visited with Larry Bradley (took a spaghetti dinner and a slice of chocolate banana bread), then off to our hair cut and color with Steve.
River House Happy Hour, with deviled eggs.
Wednesday: Ford's Doctor appointment (Al Saghir to review his annual ECHO test) - all is good with his heart (58% functioning which is in the normal range, valves working, all the same or a little better).  Ford cooked blackened salmon and I made a hot bacon dressing over romaine lettuce (with blue cheese, dried cherries and bacon). I made Cliffreda's oatmeal cookies - very delicious! Gave some to Ms. Penny.
Romaine Bacon Salad:
Thursday: I worked until 9:45, AA and I took Ginger for a walk before we drove to the OP Mall to shop. Ford went to his Parkinson’s exercise class. AA and I started with Dick’s sporting store (tried bras, a dress, skorts and one short - none fit that well), then Belk’s where she bought a bra and shirt for school (always in blue, we almost always revert to either black or blue clothes). Dillard’s was last and we did not buy anything.
After a delicious lunch at Natures Kitchen (at main Mall entrance) of a salmon bowl and a tuna bowl, went to Publix for a Happy Birthday balloon for Penny. We took a break at home, chatted with Leaa, Dylan becoming an understudy for a special camp this weekend, then to Whitey’s for dinner with Penny, we brought her the balloon, homemade Cliffreda cookies and returned her book. We enjoyed fried fish and fried shrimp. Penny had the Thursday special of tacos. We chatted about our trip to Missouri, Ben’s death, Colonial Williamsburg, Jim/Cliffreda visit, then home. Chatted about Ginger, golf and her sister, the recent widow (has an unfinished home, bought a different one, still straightening out the estate). We found out that St. John’s Country Day has new golf coaches - so Bryan must not work there anymore. And discussed how hot it is outside, 96 degrees daily.
Once home, at 7 pm, watched Jeopardy, and the original Willy Wonka movie.
Friday July 21st: AA's PT was cancelled with Drew (he called off sick). I worked and attended my 10:00 a.m. work meeting, then walked Ginger and off to shop at Goodwill. AA found two tops to purchase. We tried a new to us Mexican restaurant at Five Points/Riverside - La Taqueria Coccia. We enjoyed the guacamole, black beans and rice, AA's veggie quesadilla and Ford's veggie tostada; I had one shrimp taco. All were good, it's more of a casual street Mexican food, small interior, order at the counter. There is a small outside back patio but way too hot now to be outside. Good food, quaint, but we will most likely go back to Iguana on Park Street.
AA has been opposed to seeing movies she not interested (as in we did not go see the new Little Mermaid as she didn't want to go) but today, she finally agreed to see the new Barbie movie (just for fun).
The Clay Today had an article written by NFJG and mentioned that AA stopped by Eagle Harbor to say hi:
Saturday, 22nd: I worked for an hour, mailed Anthony's birthday gift of four books and stopped in at Publix.
Charlie Riley finished repairing out deck (took five days over three weeks), hopefully will last another 20 years!
River House Happy Hour with Kathy, Liz Hart and Nancy Harrison. I made the tomato/mozzarella skewers and olives for appetizer, Kathy brought hummus. We chatted about Frank's death, circumstances, the Winterbourne HOA Board and new owners.
Deck Repair almost done:
Rainbow at the River House - we were inside, looking out the window. Stormy then the sun!
Tree down near the pond:
Sunday, July 23rd: Dropped Ginger off at Carolyn's home, all good. Flew to Boston, made it through Security with AA's brace and crutch, she was "wanded", sat in chair then patted down. Nothing for our dinner, did buy some granola bars, but ate the airplane snack instead. Arrived at our Logan Airport gate at 10:13 p.m. We waited about ten minutes for a cab, lots of people in line, but very efficient process. Cost $40 with tip (the Sumner/Callahan tunnel is closed for a month, so took a few minutes longer to get to our hotel, next to the North Train Station). Our room looks over the old church, same as back in March with AA - we are higher, on the 12th floor.
