Father's Day Sunday

We woke up early (I haven't slept past 5:30 a.m. for weeks!) and started the list of to-do's for the family dinner at Carl and Marsha's. Liv is still recovering from her wisdom teeth out, still feeling nauseous from medicines. Ford opened his cards and gift from AA (a navy polo shirt) and I bought him his "new" favorite shorts from L.L. Bean (non-golfing type).

I sliced thinly two pounds of Brussel sprouts for the new slaw recipe (blister gained on my left pointer finger from so much knife work!), made the poppy seed dressing (I used commercial Duke's mayonnaise, but next time would use only 1.5 cups and add a bit more honey), then added the sliced scallions, cranberries and toasted almonds.
We took the red velvet cupcakes (baked yesterday) to Marsha's and frosted them there, along with the do-ahead mashed potatoes and the Brussel Slaw and Bota Box Red wine. Making the mashed potatoes:
Leaa brought pot roast and green beans, with baked yeast rolls, always delicious. Enjoyed seeing Kilee, Justin (gave him the money we received from scraping/selling the 2002 Ford 150 - $450), Travis, Cara, Pearl and Miles (he's getting mischievous!), and Leaa, Jesse and Dylan (ever so tall!). Marsha is keeping busy with painting and having Pearl and Miles several days each week.
Made the red velvet cupcakes and cream cheese frosting (vanilla and chocolate).
Marsha with Miles, Justin on floor, Kilee on couch. No group photo this time!
Dinner at Marsha's - Yum! And Marsha gave AA a clear box with sketching materials in it, colored pencils, sketch book and instructions! So thoughtful - to keep AA busy on our trip!
Father's Day Cards, one homemade by Liv and Dylan:
Card from Nicole, Jordan, Mila and Avery!
A very nice day thanks to the Cruce's!
