Almost March!

Monday, February 27th: Ford went to his Parkinson's exercises.
Got some March birthday cards (Marty Lee, Jamie and Madison's) and two sympathy cards in the mail (Jessica "Jay" Read's mom, Jess-Ann and Alan Ehrle's Mom). Ford and I made a new recipe soup: Cheese tortellini with ground pork (too much for a soup, need to cut in half) kale, onions, garlic, chicken broth, basil, etc. Very good, had plenty of leftovers for Tuesday's dinner.
Tuesday 28th: We took the 2002 Ford truck back to Suburban, now that we have promised it to Justin, it is falling apart! Chatted with Jim Read about politics, their dogs, they can't come to our April 15th sailing party, AA's knee, etc. I made Cliffreda's bran muffins for our breakfasts and cooked a pound of bacon.
AA went to FIGC after school for an hour. Happy Hour at the River House, no Kathy as she had a HOA Board meeting. Gorgeous weather on the river, didn't want to leave!
Wednesday, March 1st: Busy day as Pat's Nursery came at 8:30 (while I was working) to plant our new navel orange tree. They also removed the Japanese maple; I need to remove the old plants remaining.
Ford set up appointments to look at two used 11' kayaks, which we did buy. Ready to hit the lake!
AA and I shopped for boots at Kohls and were successful - Columbia hiking insulated boots and a pair of Converse platform sneakers. Happy we found something in her size (between a 5 and 6). Before we went into Kohl's, we selected and bought Columbia black boots for AA and a pair for me, little did we know, she was able to find some that fit locally.
From Amazon (Columbia Size 5.5):
AA went to PT for her hour, I walked 3000 steps while chatting with Mom, then to EH golf course for a putting session with Ms. Penny.
We chatted with Penny afterwards, she can't wait to go on her Wales trip in May. She loaned me the book "Lessons in Chemistry" and recommended the movie, Six Minutes to Midnight.
Ford made homemade spaghetti sauce today so that was dinner.
I made our hotel and train reservations for Boston, just realized to day that we will be there on St. Patrick's Day!
Thursday: Put a few extra/unneeded things on the curb (old refrigerator, microwave, two Adirondack chairs that were rotted, two old speakers), trying to clean a spot in our garage for the kayaks (someone always takes them before the garbage trucks arrive!)!
Made at the FUMCH Children's home about 12 years ago - the screws were not countersunk (should have been plugged with wood) so water intruded in the boards, definitely time to let go of them.
Went to Computer store to shop for a new laptop for me (my old one (which was AA's) is crashing regularly now), bought a refurbished Dell laptop for me and Ford bought a refurbished iPad. We are all happy now! I made Katie's Shrimp Salad for dinner; first some cheese and crackers on the porch with AA, and texting with Jim and Cliffreda again.
Friday: We bought a used bookcase locally, then a new kayak paddle. Visited with Larry, took him a spaghetti meal and muffins. After school snack of salsa and chips, drove to AA's Hope Haven session (I walked 2000 steps) then to Carolyn's to pick up some local eggs for us. We met her beau, Alex and had a short chat, they were off to dinner. We had homemade dinner of Alabama sausage, peppers, onions.
Saturday: We planned to kayak today in Doctor's Lake, but a cool front with dark clouds and rain settled in today. Called Mom as NE was getting a snowstorm, may get 8 - 12" snow. I made deviled eggs for Happy Hour at River House. Enjoying setting up my new (refurbished) laptop that also is a touch screen/detachable tablet.
Azaleas have been blooming for past week:
River House: Rained just before we arrived, chatted with Paul C.; hadn't seen him in a couple of months; said he has been in bed a lot, resting. Hugh and Maureen had grandson Deven and wife visit this week.
Sunday: We had a lazy morning until 9:30 a.m. - launched our kayaks for the first time! (separate post). AA played golf with Stephanie at San Jose, a successful session.
AA and I stopped at the new Stone Cold Slab ice cream shop for a small taste which was delicious, I think a bit expensive ($6 for small cup) (just opened last week). We are partial to a locally owned ice cream shop named Maggie's. Ford made a BBQ pork roast in the oven, with store bought cole slaw and french fries. Yum, will have leftovers later this week (no photos). AA had her tutoring with Laurie, then off to bed, we were all tired!
