Ten days before school begins!
AA is at a two-day NFJG tournament, Marsh Landing (she stunk up day one with an 85) and Glen Kernan (separate post).
I called Auntie Jean, she is recovering fairly well so far since her fall down Sharon's stairs on Saturday. She is in pain and most likely won't fly home for at least 6 weeks.
I did the usual chores at home (laundry, dishes, etc.), plus working a few hours, writing up some birthday cards for August, walking Ginger, trip to Walmart, tackling a small clutter corner of our bedroom, shredding old bills. Dinner was leftover homemade pizza and an Asian salad kit, all pretty good.
I am reading Wendy Ward's travel log (Britney's Mom) and learned today about a Canadian holiday for only the Halifax area. Found this explanation: Nova Scotia has been a member of the Canadian Confederation since its inception on July 1, 1867. The term "natal" is derived from the Latin word for birth and, hence, Natal Day is the official “birthday” of the province. The first Natal Day celebrations were organized in 1895 and were intended to mark the arrival of the railway line in the area. However, the construction works were delayed and the day became a celebration of the history of Halifax and the surrounding area.
Tuesday: Donna came to clean the house. We were gone to AA's day two of the NFJG Tournament (I stayed an hour at the house to do dishes and walk Ginger, then met AA at her first hole). We ate hamburgers at the Glen Kernan Golf course, so were not hungry for much of a diner - did make some bruschetta. We called Leaa and will meet with them this Friday to hear Jesse play at their Mellow Mushroom.

Wednesday: Lazy morning, went to the bank to have AA open her first savings/checking account; and Ford and I needed some papers notarized for our pension affidavit (just to verify that we are still alive!).
Ian had his cancer/bone scan today. We are praying for good news but unfortunately, his Mom announced the news that the cancer has spread and they will need to leave the clinical trial and see their oncologist tomorrow (Thursday) for a treatment plan forward.
The Bailey Family is trying to hold themselves together: We did not meet with oncology today, but will meet with his most loving Dr. Allie tomorrow to discuss next steps, as today we are just absorbing the horrendous blow. Per his scans today, the two spots in his lungs have grown, he has a new nodule in his left lung, and again, peculiar spots on his spine, arm and rib now.
Today, we were thinking of Larry and Charlotte: We drove to the cemetery to visit Charlotte's grave - her funeral was one year ago on 08/04/21.
Then we drove to the OP Subaru dealership to test drive a 2022 Outback but they had none on the lot; will drive one first before deciding what to do with the 2002 Ford Truck and the 2015 Forester.
We ate lunch at a new New Orleans's local restaurant, Mackie's Munchies, overall the food was hot and tasty, but probably will not go there again (no atmosphere and seemed over priced for the value). Veggie wrap for AA, I had the shrimp basket special with one side, I chose red beans and rice; Ford had Mike's Raging Cajun Chicken sandwich. You would think that these meals would have some spice, but none, no heat, no pepper sauce, no Cajun flavor.
Thursday: AA made her sloppy joe for dinner, I baked muffins yesterday (the make ahead bran batter), made grape salad and three-bean salad. Ginger went for her grooming. AA's first HS Girls Golf practice for the 2022 season was held at 3:00 p.m. She went a little early to hit some balls, then played a nine-hole scramble with the team. Homemade sloppy joe for dinner!
Friday: We didn't do too much, texted with Mia, met up at the St. Augustine Mellow Mushroom with Leaa and family. Madison took a campus tour of JU and UNF, next they are going to hit the beach tomorrow and dress shop. Enjoyed our visit (of course very LOUD at the restaurant, hard to talk/hear) and scooted out before sunset as we don't like to drive at night. Leaa, Marsha, Mia, Madison, AA:
Saturday: AA and I went to Carolyn's for a swim while she was working, took Ginger; we haven't had much swim time this summer.
AA golf lesson at 2:00 p.m. then practiced for two hours. We met Kathy at the RH for happy hour. Maureen was not feeling well and was admitted to the Mayo Hospital.
Sunday: We planned to see the new Elvis movie, but instead Mia and Madison agreed to visit before driving back to Atlanta. I served bran muffins, fruit, grape salad and bacon. They may be back in September for some formal/official campus tours.
AA and Ford made two batches of banana pudding. One large pan, we took to the Bailey's for a visit. Ian has decided not to return to school, he says if he survives a year, he will test out for 10th grade and move on. They just want to have family time with him and will take a cruise to Alaska in September. Sad time for the family, thinking the worst and praying for a miracle.
Dinner was chicken sheet pan dinner with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Two days of fun left until school starts!
