We woke early, about 6:00 a.m. and enjoyed Starbucks coffee and a walk to CVS for other supplies and food items. Nice, breezy and cool in the morning. AA tried to get tickets to the Holocaust Museum, was not able but did score tickets for the African-American Museum.
From our hotel, we first walked to the new WWI Memorial in Pershing Park. Walked the Ellipse Circle Drive and viewed the White House from the back side, then to the George Washington Monument on the National Mall. After viewing the Washington Monument up close, we walked through the WWII memorial, past the reflection pool to the Lincoln Monument.

Walked to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. And the Constitution Gardens where there is a dedication to the signers of the Declaration of Independence.
We arrived early at the African-American Museum, and were let in 30 minutes early. Amazing museum, HUGE!
We spent most of the day in the African-American Museum, it was laid out very well, the continuity between subjects and rooms, and it is HUGE. By the time we went to the basement for the exhibit, we were worn out. Best museum yet.
We ate lunch in the museum café (cafeteria) and then headed to the Museum of American History (which paled in comparison to the African-American experience). First our morning view with a crane lifting new HVAC equipment on the roof.

Dinner was at a favorite restaurant, very close to the J.W. Marriott, The Hamilton - sushi, salad and salmon with lentils and carrot salad. Large restaurant with two huge bars, crowded, outside seating. We were seated in the overflow room (very popular, very crowded) but enjoyed our dinner.
After dinner, we walked to the White House gift shop, then the front of the White House, then we walked to the Capitol building thinking it was just a short walk, took us until 9:00 p.m. to make it there and back. Long day!
