Week of 11/29/21 - December and Advent Calendar

Monday: Ford went to his doctor appointment for colonoscopy. After some discussion, it seems Ford has choices about having it done as he has "passed" the at home test and had a colonoscopy in 2016 when he was in the hospital. In the afternoon, we went to his heart doctor, routine 6 month check-up and results of his recent ECHO. No issues! Did the grocery shopping.
Wine gift from Hugh for us to try/compare to our usual "value" priced wines:
Salute!
Monday's River House flag:
Advent Calendar (gift from Mom) ready! Candy, ornaments and Bible verses:
So many doctor's appointments, always take a list of Ford's prescriptions:

Tuesday: Donna came and let us know she will have her cancer surgery in January. I went to work and let Gene and Chuck know that I will work from home and not go into the office anymore. With Ford's recent diagnoses, want to be available and take some of the daily chores off him. We had spaghetti and meatballs for dinner and played Rummikub (again). Love when AA teases her Dad and they laugh at each others jokes and annoyances! AA and I each won a game, glad we beat her Dad!
Wednesday: December 1st! Ford went to lunch with Hugh then to see the movie James Bond.
First day for the Advent calendar and Ginger has one too! We decided that it would not be good to give Ginger a treat at dinner time for 25 days, so stopped her Advent calendar! She would keep begging, so do not want to start a bad habit.
AA had her volunteer time with the little golfers and then golfed for a while after. We purchased some gifts from Ancient City Brewery on line, so made a trip over there to pick up, enjoyed one beer and then drove home. Since we didn't cook, we picked up two Mojo BBQ salads, always good with their chipotle ranch dressing.
Thursday: Ford had the blue light procedure (chemo-medication) on his face at his dermatologist, so now he looks sunburned (took 2.5 hours). Before photo!
I picked up AA from school, took her to the eye doctor and selected new frames for her.
She went to the golf course for about two hours, spoke to Stephanie. We texted about the eye place as I had asked the employees about "Asian" glasses, which they knew and showed us several. AA feels that makes her different, stand-out. We then had some good texts (while she was still at the golf course!) about why there is the notion that Asian kids are smarter, the expectations put on them (by their educated parents) and other things said that are considered "racist". Difficult and touchy conversations.

Dinner: I made a new recipe with fresh Lo Mein noodles, spinach, shrimp, mushrooms, snow peas, carrots, garlic and ginger. Flavor  was okay, AA liked it (oyster sauce in it).
We have the lights on the Christmas tree and put about 50% of the ornaments on tonight.
Friday: Ford continues to stay indoors, he made peanut brittle for gifting but only one batch worked out! Sad to dump the candy but if it sticks to your teeth, it wasn't cooked long enough. I worked for a few hours in the morning. Grocery shopping for stir-fry dinner (trying with tofu).
Precooking the tofu after "dewatering" it!
Work meeting at 2:00 p.m., after picking up AA from school.
Beautiful day, in the low 70's for three days now! Our ponderosa lemon tree from Carolyn has one lemon, almost ready to pick!
Saturday: Another beautiful fall day! BJ's shopping with Carolyn, bought supplies, sugar, pecans, toilet paper, paper towels, and a few small gifts! I made deviled eggs for our happy hour snack at the River House. I usually work a few hours over the weekend, trying to get ahead. AA went to the golf course after finishing an extra credit algebra assignment - drawing something over her graphs!
