October 5th - 11th

Monday (10/05/20) started off very wet with over 1.5" rain in two days. AA attended her virtual school and I joined my ladies golf group at 4:00 p.m. We shopped at Fresh Market and bought dumplings and a chicken pot pie ready to cook (ate it Wednesday evening, was pretty good). AA's golf lesson:

Jack asked us to write a story about AA's golfing journey and to include about her dog food drive. We are having a tough time starting the article....... Her'e the one that Joan Romano wrote back in 2014:

AA went to OPJH for the end of school algebra test (two days); she took honors algebra last year but due to COVID-19, there was no end of school testing. Everyone was worried since they had not had algebra class for months!

Since our Washington D.C. trip was cancelled due to Hurricane Delta's far reaching bands of rain, we ad-libbed for the weekend. I went to work on Friday so was very tired as usual at the end of the day. It was Larry Bradley's retirement day - last day at work after 36 years at SJRPP. He also worked for Foster Wheeler and Burns and Roe (I met him at SECI in late 1982) before coming to SJRPP/JEA.

Saturday, Ford grocery shopped, we went to ABC Liquor store, we took a bottle of champagne (balloon and cards) to Larry's home, spoke to Charlotte on the phone (Larry was taking his first retirees' nap), so didn't get to see them. We did our usual 5 p.m. Zoom with Penny, Hugh and Maureen. As usual good conversation. We ate leftovers all day so no cooking!

I made up the individual tonic water tasting kits for our Happy Hour group. Hoping will be a little fun for us all to do.

Sunday, I made another clafoutis but with buttermilk this time (and half strawberries/blueberries). Delicious with a little maple syrup on top. We watched a few old movies (The Ghost of Mrs. Muir and beginning of Can-Can with Shirley McClain!).

In the afternoon, we took Nicole her birthday card (and a very late one for Avery, plus the tutu skirt from their wedding). We actually saw them in person and chatted for a few minutes. We then tried to find the Guana Wildlife Management entrance to a park, which we did not, plus it was raining so didn't walk around the boat and kayak launch areas. We headed home through Jacksonville and stopped at Bahama Breeze for lunch (sitting outside with masks on as needed - all of Duval County is under the mask mandate). Everything tasted good, we watched part of the LOSING Jaguar game, and it was a noisy location sitting outside.

We took Penny her tonic water taste testing kit and chatted in her driveway for 15 minutes. Good to see people in person!

Then to the golf course to hit some balls (after Ford and AA played four holes while I walked Ginger).

Ford took a few photos of me at the driving range, I didn't know how I looked with a golf club in my hands! A video is on a separate post.

Here's one of AA's classes mid-term grades:
