The Week Leading to Labor Day!

AA is looking forward to a three day weekend, she is happy to have the extra day away from school. What a roller coaster it has been getting her classes on line. Long story about the Clay County dumping the small group of OPJH (and other schools) that were in the AP track. They tried as quickly as possible to get all kids in classes so dumped her and her friends into regular 8th grade classes, all she had already taken as a 7th grader. So yesterday (Thursday), finally was straightened out as best as it will be for the two CVA classes. I think she (we) will like the learning process and she can do the lessons at her pace (the CVA classes).

I went to my 4th doctor appointment about my eye, its a chalazion (definition: a small, usually painless, lump or swelling that appears on your eyelid. A blocked meibomian or oil gland causes this condition. It can develop on the upper or lower eyelid). So now I need to have it removed - scheduled for 09/16/20, our Forever Family Day.

Lots of rain last weekend, now a few "drier" days then Labor Day weekend, Sunday and Monday expecting rain back again.

Saturday, the 5th, we visited with Carolyn for brunch and pool swim. Ginger enjoyed the drive and visit with Bella too! Champagne and cranberry juice tasted perfect with the blueberry clafoutis, bacon and hash browns. Yum!

Relaxing!
AA's expression is usually about me taking so many photos......

And the run of horrible HOT days is almost over (hopefully)!

Back home and after showers, we were on line with our Zoom Happy Hour friends, Kathy, Penny, Hugh and Maureen.

Sunday: Breakfast was smashed avocado on toast, an easy and yummy dish. Ford bought JK's lemon tree and grocery, while AA and I went to the golf course. I didn't last very long, but AA stayed for over two hours.

JK's lemon tree - Eureka lemon's have slightly thicker skin and a little more acidic than the Meyer lemon.
We visit with Justin, gave him gifts of the lemon tree, money (to buy more plants), store bought cupcakes and some of Ford's home grown HOT peppers (burning hot, can't eat even a small piece). He is having his house stuccoed, removing large bushes, relocating all his potted plants (which are recovering since the goat at them all the leaves and flowers off them). His bees are doing well, he gets honey twice a year.
His bird of paradise plant has one older bloom and a new one, beautiful to see the flower up close.
We decided to drive back on the east side of the river, stopped at the Ancient City Brewery. They have expanded into one of the two garage bays, so fewer tables for the public to sit, the one garage bay remaining has too many tables crammed in. We were lucky to get a small table right at the opening, but still in the shade. Ford wore his mask and bought two beers (Matanzas Red and Anastasia Island IPA), a nice treat to relax (there is no pretty view, this place is in an industrial park). Ordered three Sonny's BBQ sandwiches to go (they bring outside to your vehicle - nice!) and drove home.
During the evening, AA retreated to her bedroom to practice her business keyboarding (an easy elective since she has all AP/Honors classes for the other five classes). A small pillow (made by Nana Joy) is over her hands so no peeking! She was so bored at 8:00 p.m. she thought to do school work! Poor girl!
Tomorrow is Monday, Justin's birthday and Happy Labor Day, a day of rest for us! No where to go, sad we are not with family, missing all the good times with the growns and grands!
