This will be another memorable week. Even though we don't seem to do much, the little things pile up each day, little tasks, little smiles, happen every day. Ford and AA communicate wonderfully along with many annoyances thrown in for good measure (ah, the teenage years!!).
I am amazed and proud of Alyzabeth each time I can spend part of a day with her. I do make suggestions as she is still quiet and sometimes she is working on "stuff" and doesn't tell us. Like the comment she made to her Robotics Coach about the team's robot strategy for this coming year. She makes many valid points on what the strategy could be and gives examples and reasons why. So grown up beyond her years! I suggested she write a note to Ms. Penny, thanking her for sharing two books, which she did and mailed. I suggested she read her gmail (she always forgets) and she, without telling me replied to an email from her Nana of the North. She is volunteering many hours to help her golf coach with the youngest children in golf clinics (Pee Wee Clinic this week - separate post).
So a month ago, we decided to enter AA into a very highly regarded golf tournament. We talked about the "virus", that hopefully it would be lessened by the time the Notah-Begay III Golf Championship Regional was played in July. Well, the virus has exploded, and after talking many times why we could not go on a vacation, why would we be taking our daughter to a hotel room and situations that were outside the safety of the outdoor golf course. So we have withdrawn. So sad.
The NB3 Foundation was founded in 2005 by Notah Begay III (Diné/Pueblos of San Felipe and Isleta), a four-time PGA Tour winner. He is currently an analyst for NBC Sports and the Golf Channel.
Starting with a junior golf program headed by Notah’s father, Notah Begay, Jr., Native youth from the Albuquerque area were introduced to golf, a sport often out of reach for both rural and urban Native American youth. This program served as an introduction to the positive impact sports can make on a young person’s life: discipline, goal-setting, etiquette, pride and health.
The Notah Begay III (NB3) Foundation is a national, award-winning Native-led nonprofit leading the way to improve Native American children’s health. Each day, thousands of Native youth wake up facing significant health challenges and barriers to living full lives. The good news, is that most are preventable and together we are changing this reality. The NB3 Foundation is changing the lives of Native American children by supporting and funding Native-driven, culturally centered programs and by providing direct opportunities for Native youth to live healthy, active lives. This week included a dermatologist appointment for AA's "puberty scalp skin" as her doctor calls it, and a dentist appointment combined to clean her teeth and adjust her braces. The 2002 truck was in the shop on Thursday as the air conditioning wasn't cooling (was recharged, so hoping lasts another year!). I am off work for four days!!
