Hall of Fame Invitational - World Golf Village, Slammer and Squire, November 9 & 10, 2019.
AA played pretty well on day 1, then ran into some challenges on day 2. Overall, we knew the Elite Girls group would be a step up for AA, especially when they play the longer distances.

Kicking off the “Hall of Fame Invitational” and the first leg of the “World Golf Village Challenge” called for an early start. The event kicked off with tee times starting at 7:00 am. The earliest ever in NFJG TOUR history. The Slammer and Squire Course was found to be in outstanding condition as the players made their way to the course. Some arriving before the sun came up ready to hit the warm-up tee, but once the sun peaked it was “Game On” and “Go Time!”
A record setting Eighty (80) players was in the field this week broken up with 41 boys 13-18 and 22 girls 13-18 and the remainder boys 10-12 and the Foundation. A great start for the opening “North Florida Junior Players Tour” schedule with some 12 fantastic events yet to come. This is the way it should always be. Bring it North Florida, let’s get all our talented young players together for the “Best against the Best”.
As the cold front passed through Florida it took the rain with it but left behind some pretty windy conditions, with winds still kicking to 20 mph plus. Nonetheless, Jacksonville’s Andrew Kunkle took dead aim firing an outstanding one over par 73 (35-38) to lead the Boys 13-18 Division.
Round 1: The Girls 13-18 Division had 22 players in the field this week. Palm Coast’s Alexandra Gazzoli fired a four over par 76 (38/38) to take a three-shot lead over St. Augustine’s Elizabeth Kondal (79).
Round 2: Players would start as early as round one, but the air would be a little chillier with the temps in the low 50’s. Still the players arrived in shorts and shirts readying themselves for the warmer weather of the day. With the sky’s nearly clear and the sun rising over the #1 green the opening shot would be a blinding attempt. What’s impressive was 90% of the field hit the fairway with solid shots off the tee. Many thanks to the keen eye of Starter - Mark Heeter and hawk-eye Al Grant positioned at the 150 yard wood line who spotted the flight of the balls as they took off and landed.
In the Elite Tour Girls Palm Coast’s Alexandra Gazzoli bettered her play by four shots in round two posting the low round of the day for the girls at even par 72. She extended her already comfortable lead after round one. Gazzoli would have four birdies on the day to take home the champions trophy with a total score of 148. St. Augustine’s Elizabeth Kondal would also continue her excellent play posting a 76 in round two to claim the Runner-up award at 155.
