Post-World's - Rest and Relaxation at the Read's

We decided to keep our visit to the Read's even though I still was miserable from my migraine. We almost turned around and headed home. BUT, so glad we continued on. I was feeling so much better by Sunday night. Ford drove the entire way and we always try a new BBQ place. The Stratford was not a good place. The food was plain with only hot sauce, no BBQ at all! It didn't help that outside our window, there was a drunk being arrested, took the entire hour we were there before he was put in a police car. Well, not going to be a good trip adviser rating!

We saw the Pilot Mountain on our way and even stopped in at the look-out.
After visiting and getting settled (Jim gave up his master bedroom for us - the entire upstairs!), AA and I decided to try the tubing on the river - South Fork Holston River.
Alyzabeth is missing her puppy Ginger (who is in good hands with Aunt Carolyn Redmond), so Glen is giving her some love! Mel and Syd are close by. (AA's mouth is wide open, protesting all the picture taking!). Glen snuggled with AA as much as possible.
While the tubing was fun, our first time had a few moments where we were too close to the shore and got slapped by some low hanging branches. When we got off the tube, the rocks were slippery and AA banged her knee, but we survived and it was fun!!
Jim grilled hamburgers for our Sunday evening dinner - yum!
Rented a "beach cruiser" bike for AA called a "coaster".
Ready!
Best outhouse photo!
On the trail:
Selfie - Green Cove!

Conquered the Virginia Creeper Trail with Jim! Mostly downhill, so much fun! Then another float trip on the river (south fork of the Holston River), amazing beauty, cool white water and the welcome barks from Syd, Mel and Glen.
Inflatable kayaks - worked great! Ford tried to steer in the front seat, but some how we managed not to hurt each other! AA had fun paddling with Jim.
Lunch at MoJo, next to bike rental place. Delicious food.
And with that we made a spaghetti dinner and enjoyed some wine! (my first drink in five days!). So thankful for Jim's hospitality, we were able to relax and enjoy!
On our way home Tuesday morning!
