October 2017 - Still Waiting for Cooler Weather!

Another wonderful week! Busy as usual, with robotics team, golfing and church. We had the added chore of cleaning out our storage unit. During Hurricane Irma, the retaining wall behind the storage unit property collapsed up against our unit, so forced to clean out. This is a very good thing as we had been "picking away" at it for some time. By Sunday, October 8th, with Justin's help, it should be empty. Of course, that means our one-car garage is now the storage area, but at least we can go through boxes one at a time and repack what we will keep while at home.

09/30/17 - Saturday, we went to the WEB.com championship at Atlantic Beach Country Club (AA played there once with NFJG, Summer of 2016). We enjoyed walking around for hours, mainly following Sam Saunders. Didn't take many photos, only had phone camera. Professional golf here in town! 25 golfers will earn their PGA card!
Both this golfer and his caddie were smoking cigarettes as they approached the ball. We were shocked!!
It was over cast, a bit rainy as a north'easter storm was blowing in. As it turned out, Sunday's round 4 was postponed until Monday. Ford and I sneaked over to #ABCC on Monday while AA was in school and we enjoyed watching the golfers again. Thanks to Colleen of PGA again for the complimentary tickets! Our Saturday "selfie":
Monday, the 2nd:
We also jumped in the pool, was very refreshing, the pool water temperature was 81 degrees!
Back to Sunday (10/01/17), from Facebook: Rainy yesterday and today, we are soaked, this northeaster is sticking around until tonight. Our day began with a first, we are so proud of Alyzabeth singing in the OPUMC JAM choir in church for the first time! Sweet voice!
Another first which only happened due to being stuck inside, she learned to play cribbage! I have tried to teach her the old fashioned way with a board and deck of cards. Since no one plays with me I use a cribbage app on my iPad. So AA starts playing it and asks me to help. We actually played two games and she loves it! Electronics to the rescue!
Also, first time making a new cookie recipe: pumpkin-chocolate chip, they are so chocolatey with a mild pumpkin-cinnamon flavor.
Now AA is at 456 Club at church. No golfing so a different day, a really special day.
Tuesday, October 3rd, we delivered the donated dog food to the Clay County Animal Rescue Shelter. I didn't get a photo of all the food, as two employees carried some of the smaller bags, only the heaviest bags were on the cart.
Tuesday, Justin stopped by while he was waiting for Kilee at her dance lesson. From Facebook: Another busy day, we are cleaning out our storage unit (from when we downsized; about time we got rid of it!); then took the donated dog food to our local animal shelter (thank you Patti Caton for the donation!, about 300 lbs donated by AA's friends and family), then AA golfed nine holes, now enjoying son Justin, visiting. We are trading goods: he brought his home-grown honey; we gave him some rosemary and basil cuttings and a young basil plant. A good day.

We learned about Tom Petty's death, a amazing person, musician, band leader, etc. One of my favorite songs of all time; how can you not love the Traveling Wilbury's (End of the Line)? Unbelievable amount of talent and varying singing voices and styles. This is how I really choose to remember Tom Petty.
Tom, Roy and George together making heavenly music.
October 4th was the full moon - Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. We did gaze at the moon on our walk back from church.
And the 4th was our 32 Wedding Anniversary! We didn't celebrate as we had plans for golfing and church (Ford gave me cards, candy and flowers!). Thursday, we did enjoy a bottle of champagne in the afternoon and a visit to the River House. Here's our wedding photo from 1985 (Larry Bradley and Charlotte K.)
I made the first taco soup of the Fall season, even though it is too hot to call this weather Fall! We continue to cook homemade for dinners, this week I made a rice/chicken/cheese and veggie casserole, Ford made his beans and ham and we actually grilled hotdogs one evening! Plus on Sunday, baked a new cookie recipe, Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies (used mini-chips), we loved them!
October 6th, Friday, AA played nine holes with Ms. Penny at the Fleming Island golf course and then went to the Eagle Harbor course for her PGA Junior team practice. Her first Team match is tomorrow, Saturday at King and Bear. Then Sunday, she will be going to Owen's birthday party!
