County Fair Fun Our Third with AA!

We always enjoy the Clay County fair (we go each year with AA). We stroll through the "Old Florida" area, listening to Blue Grass music, taste some free samples of collard greens; watch the pressing of sugar cane, blacksmiths, weavers, bee keepers, quilters, gardening, grist milling along with walking through an old church and one room school house. This year, a giant Smokey the Bear was friendly so AA was excited to stand with him, she also liked looking at several old fire trucks and old cars on display.

She chose which rides she wanted to ride on, the spinning apples was first (very similar to the tea cup ride, only enclosed). I am so glad I had no signs of vertigo before, during or after these rides! Almost seemed like I was "normal"!

From the Ferris Wheel, we could see all the other rides, the over flowing parking lots, the foolish people upside down and the Rodeo building (Cattleman's):

We always walk through the 4-H animal exhibit areas: pigs, ducks, chickens, roosters (which AA said were very LOUD today!), cows, horses, rabbits and goats; I think the goats liked their playground:

The only thing we wondered about was the cost, the four rides we went on cost between three and five tickets ($1.00 each). We could have purchased an armband for unlimited rides at $20.00 each. Since we didn't know how many rides AA would actually ride on (and met the height requirement) we went with single tickets. Along with the gate admission of $8.00 per adult, plus lunch, plus anything else you wanted to purchase or play a few games..... you get my drift. Some days there is a concert in the evening, so I would assume with teenagers and staying all day it would seem like a bargain compared to Disney.... but this isn't Disney is it?
The positive side is that for the price of admission there is plenty of free entertainment, prize winning animals and crafts, Children's play areas, a parade, strolling characters, High School Rodeos; it is a well run, SAFE place (Sheriffs patrolled every street, lane and alley way), loads of family fun!

My mother was a 4-H leader for 30 years; her mother for 35 years, so of course we were all exhibitors. I LOVE the county fair!
