Feb. 26th - Monday: I continued working in the mornings, then took Ford to his Parkinson exercises. While he was there, I bought a coffee from Spring Coffee Shop, parked in Spring Park. Beautiful morning, I listened in on my 10 a.m. work call. Back to pick up Ford, we went home. We drove to Ford's new neurologist's office, Dr. Legacy (we saw him once last year - consulted about DBS). Was a good appointment, he took about 45 minutes, checking Ford, asking questions, decided to try a low dose of Levodopa-Carbidopa prescription. We made a quick stop at Publix, then decided the weather was so nice, we went to the River House.
Dinner was leftover jambalaya with a salad. Another season of The Voice has started, we like this show. AA studied, and we visited, chatted, always on the bed with Ginger.
27th Tuesday: Same routine, worked until 8:30 a.m., then prepared for the meeting with our new tax preparer, Linda Wright (at Arnold Law). Ford drove himself to his PT on Kingsley. With taxes dropped off, I went to Larry's to take out trash bags; bought chicken pot pies from Fresh Market and roasted carrots for our dinner. We did go to our usual Tuesday River House happy hour.
I made a new recipe - artichoke spinach dip (made with frozen bag of artichokes that Hugh gave me - Erin had used in her cooler to keep some crab cakes cold!). It was pretty good, but I think we all like regular spinach dip just as well.
Alyzabeth's prom dress arrived (Macy's) and it fit nicely.
Wednesday: Spent most of the day at Larry's home. Ford brought me lunch from the local "Greek" Time Out Deli. Met a home buyer/flipper (NEFL Home Buyers), James. He has his own company, and the cell phone office next to Tia's Hair Salon. He checked out the property, but not sure he is really interested. Today's weather - gorgeous again - 80 degrees! I wore a skort for first time all winter. Love my leggings but too hot for this weather. We attended Alyzabeth's Spanish Honor Society meeting (separate post).
Thursday: This is boring blogging, saying the same thing, most mornings I work and now Ford is driving himself (while he feels better) to a few appointments - he went to his back pain doctor (Dr. Gil) as a follow up to his last shot. He is doing well, his back seems better, he's able to do more of his regular activities (he had to miss his Parkinson exercises). I went to Larry's home, finished most of the bulk shredding, emptied a large box in the garage (it was nasty!), when through a box of magazines. Chris Brown stopped by, chatted so didn't get anything done for an hour. Ford came by and we went to Big Daddies for lunch. I kept working until I showed the home to a neighbor (lives on Lawrence St.), Teresa Palustre Blunk, husband Jeff, daughter and her husband. Back home, Ford cooked blackened salmon and a salad kit (AA mixed together). Relaxing evening as AA had three exams today so taking some time to veg!
Friday: March 1st! We began our Friday morning with the usual preparation of Alyzabeth’s breakfast and lunch box for school. I worked as usual, walked Ginger and then Ford and I went to his physical therapy session at 9:15 on Kingsley.
While Ford was at his physical therapy, I walked about 1000 steps while talking to my mom until the rain began and went back to the truck. We ran a few errands. I went to the Hallmark store and bought many cards, then to the AT&T store to get Alyzabeth’s phone on international calling for the month of March. Ate leftover chicken pot pie for lunch and then we went over to Larry‘s house when we got the call that the guy picking up Larry‘s motorcycle was going to be there in 45 minutes. He tried to get Larry‘s motorcycle to budge, but it did not, either the brakes in the back tire or something is not releasing as we could not roll the bike while it was in neutral, will come up with another plan. Ford went home, I stayed at Larry‘s as I still needed to go through many boxes of papers and wait until the 4:30 showing of the house. I went through many letters and correspondence to Larry and Charlotte, found five dollars in one letter to Charlotte from her grandmother.
I showed the house to another neighbor's family, Hannah Lamppin, husband Kelly Way and 4 month old baby, nice couple. They seem very interested in the home as he does home renovations and commercial building project management (and certified plumber) so can definitely do the renovation on the house. I picked up three Sonny's barbecue pork sandwiches for our dinner, didn’t make it home in time before Alyzabeth left for the Fleming Island High School Miss Fleming Island pageant/competition. Her friend Sophia is a contestant and AA met up with Kathyrn and others to watch the show. Ford and I watched one episode of the Lost Kitchen and generally just rested waiting on AA, she texted us and said that Sophia won the pageant (separate post). She arrived home at 10:10 p.m.
Saturday: AA and I went to Victoria Secret (at the Avenue Mall) for bras - needed new ones for her prom dress. AA was fitted and we purchased a black and tan one - regular demi, lightly lined style, worked great under her dress. We shopped for shoes but no luck - all the size 6's were too big. We couldn't decide on a lunch spot, so stopped in at our usual Time Out Deli. In the afternoon, I made appetizer for our RH happy hour - cantaloup, prosciutto ham, mozzarella balls with a balsamic drizzle.
March 3rd: Sunday morning began with us waking up around 6 AM and enjoying my coffee and reading some emails. We prepped for the chili we cook the hamburger. We already had cut up the onions, the jalapeño peppers and the garlic and the green bell pepper last night. We assembled the chili ingredients, the tomatoes, the beans and everything else in the crockpot and put it on high. We originally thought Leaa and Dylan would be coming by in the afternoon but a family is plan changed so Leaa and Dylan brought a friend to the competition and then needed to take her home after the competition was over so we did not get to see them. I went to church and enjoyed that took some pots and pans for one of the missions.
After walking Ginger, Ford and I went to Larry’s house to open it, air it out to freshen up the inside air. Took air compressor to try and air up the motorcycle tires.
Theresa, the neighbor who has the daughter and son-in-law were looking at the house came back to take some more measurements and inspected a little further. They are not sure if they’re going to buy it or if the daughter is going to but they still like the house and are considering it. The Bailey's came at about 1:30 and with Shannon‘s Dad - picked up the two yellow bedroom end tables, the two oak living room end tables, the Armoire and a coffee table. We chatted with them for a few minutes, but I had the other neighbor Timothy, touring through the house. Timothy was not impressed and said that the flippers bid of $175,000 was too high, he wouldn’t buy it for that high. We closed up Larry‘s house, stopped at Publix and picked up whipping cream for the strawberry shortcake, fresh green beans, buttermilk. I ran into Susan Kravitz Hopper and chatted with her for a while - she needs a knee replacement, and her husband came out of retirement and works part time at the Naval base as a gardener. She worked at Island Eye Care and was a neighbor of Diane and Bess Reddick for a long time and they are still best friends.
I baked my homemade biscuits with a little bit of sugar to use with strawberry shortcake for dessert. We then ate our chili with cheese, sour cream and a fresh diced jalapeño pepper. It was very good. Alyzabeth had vanilla ice cream while Ford and I had the traditional strawberry shortcake.
Tomorrow night for dinner we are going to have the HoneyBaked turkey slices along with scallop potatoes and adding fresh green beans for the side dish. Tuesday, we go to the River House so most likely we will have the chili again, leftovers are easy to heat up; don't want to cook on a night that we’ve been to our happy hour.
