Wednesday, 03/13/24: I slept pretty good until Ford texted AA at 4:00 a.m. our time! I did get back to sleep until 7:00 a.m. Went to work on my laptop and cleared many emails.
We ate our muffins, very good, not too sweet, and my two cups of coffee, I needed! We drove around town, then we first went to the Hardman Farm Trail - Walk alongside history on the beautiful Helen to Hardman Heritage Trail. This one (1) mile ADA accessible trail follows the Chattahoochee River from Hardman Farm State Historic Site to Alpine Helen. Walked most of the 0.9 mile paved walkway (walked 2500 steps) with Ginger. We drove to Unicoi State Park (paid for parking we didn’t need to), then followed signs to Anna Ruby Falls which is a federal park, the fee was $5 per person. We parked and walked to the building’s deck overlooking river, Ford waited there for us on the deck. Ginger and I walked, uphill, which Ginger did not seem to like, along the falls. Walked 1100 steps (walk is 0.4 mile to falls). Ginger did not like the wood floors - next time will pack the non-skid paw pads. She hopped from her bed to the front door; barely moved inside the house (we dragged her into the downstairs bedroom just so she would jump on the bed).

We returned to house, dropped off Ginger, then drove to International Cafe, nice view, right on river. Very windy day so chilled, went back to truck to get jackets. Only four tiny parking spots in front of the restaurant so went to the public parking lot, cost $10 and a walked the bridge to the Cafe. Next time try Troll Tavern under bridge, across from Cafe.
Walked and shopped, bought a Helen t-shirt for AA, went to Paul’s Margarita Deck, had a 14 oz beer, they also have menu of many fried baskets. Drove back to house. Beautiful day.
Ford got the charcoal grill going and cooked our steaks - mine was a bit over cooked, I left it on too long, not Ford's fault. We had baked potato and bag salad, all good with a glass of wine. The house definitely needed some sprucing up - the upper deck wasn't inviting - needed better furniture. A full day in Helen!
