Week of November 7th - Ford's Birthday 12th!

11/07/22: Monday: Took AA to the Winn Dixie parking lot, the team drove to Mission Inn/Howie-in-the-Hills for their practice round, was windy. Ford is still recovering from the flu, we got take out from Cracker Barrell of chicken and dumplings, hoping he would eat some solid food. Household chores, laundry (washing the slip covers from Ford's den chair) and errands. Not doing much as Ford is not up to going anywhere.
Tuesday: High School State Golf match was shortened to one day due to approaching TS Nicole (did hit the east coast of Florida near Vero Beach, at a low grade hurricane). The team arrived home about 7:30 p.m. and AA got right to work doing homework. Separate post on their 12th place finish.
Wednesday: AA went to school (was originally excused off), did well on her tests, she is stressed with catching up on all her missed work.
Thursday: Tropical Storm Nicole blew her way through Florida. With Hurricane Ian only a month ago, many areas flooded again but this time many beach areas lost half their dunes. The wind gusts were strong enough to move our gas grill twice. I made red beans and rice in the slow cooker; I made molasses crinkle cookies, always a favorite.
BLT's for lunch:
Friday: I copied this post for Veteran's Day, remembering that Ford's Dad, Uncle and two brothers were all Army or Army Reserves; my Dad was in the Army also. No school for kids today.
AA and I shopped at BJ's with Carolyn, then lunch from Time Out Grill. AA went to a golf meeting with Bryan Kipnis, getting the academy lessons going again now that HS team golf is over. We had leftover spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. AA did some homework.
Saturday: Ford's Birthday #71! I woke up and baked his birthday apple pie! Apples from Mom are so good. Then we drove to the RAM market, didn't buy any Christmas gifts, always looking! Bought some breakfast pastries and tomatoes. Once home, made the spinach dip for our RH happy hour, with carrots, crackers and celery sticks. AA stayed home and working on more homework. We enjoyed chatting with Hugh, Maureen and Kathy. Steve joined us for a short time, and it was so dark by 6:00 p.m. - but saw fireworks up on the river, by downtown Jacksonville. Never figured out why - maybe for the Jacksonville Fair or delayed a day for Veteran's Day.
Moon River for lunch:
Very pretty RAM Market oyster shell Christmas tree ornaments (I didn't buy any, thought the $20 each was a bit steep).
MoJo's ribs for lunch Sunday:
River House, fireworks and the deck damage from TS Nicole:
Since we were so full from Moon River lunch, we postponed having Ford's BBQ rib dinner until tomorrow. Ford opened his gifts and cards, then we had my homemade apple pie and vanilla ice cream! Delicious!
Sunday: We ate our RAM pastries (cinnamon buns, cranberry scone and two croissants with ham, cheese and broccoli). We ordered BBQ Rib dinners from MoJo's and finished eating the apple pie - all gone in two days!! AA did homework and went to the golf course. Much cooler today, in the 60's with a wind chill!
