Monday 09/26/22, HS Golf Match thru Hurricane Ian

Monday: We visited with Larry Bradley, took him some red beans and rice. FI Girls Golf Team lost to Ponte Vedra.
Leaving FIHS:
Tuesday: I baked pumpkin bread so Joy could take it to her friend in NC. I was planning to bake as Cathy and Werner were going to visit tomorrow but cancelled due to the hurricane.
Wednesday: Leaa and family drove to their NC cabin. Nana Joy left early to drive to Canton, NC (westside of Ashville). No school for AA - Wednesday - Friday. The weather was gusty and some rain, but okay to be out and about. I delivered pumpkin bread to Christa (got to hold Finn) and then visited briefly with Carolyn. Ford and I went to Collective Culture for our Happy Hour, the only place open!
Carolyn and Bella:
Thursday: Worst day during "tropical storm" Ian. Winds 30 - 60 mph, flooding at Doctors Lake Marina, Whitey's Fish Camp and at our boat ramp, end of Lakeshore Drive. We barely got one inch of rain! Justin said he got six inches!
We went back to Culture Collective and saw Jeff Weigand. Enjoyed our hurricane happy hour watching the weather channel!
Lunch was BTO's (twice) - Joy likes onion instead of lettuce, so we tried it for our lunches (while she was in NC). Hugh gave us three tomatoes that he discovered in Walmart that are local and very good (Crimson).
Friday: Hurricane Ian is past us, headed up the coast to South Carolina. My haircut was rescheduled to next Thursday. AA practiced golf at FIGC, with Coach Bryan and Stephanie. Nice cool day, only 74 degrees. We scheduled AA's new golf club pick-up/lesson at Sea Island for next Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Sun came out at 5:00 p.m. so AA and I walked to the boat ramp then circled around on Eagle Harbor Parkway for about 6000 steps. Whitey's fish camp flooded and our boat ramp had high water into the parking lot.
Saturday: Ran errands (I got photos printed at Walmart). We went to the River House with Kathy (Hugh and Maureen were celebrating their 67th Wedding Anniversary!). Jack raising the American Flag.
Sunday: I made homemade waffles with blueberries (picked in the spring) for breakfast, then another batch of pumpkin bread.
We drove to Leaa's to find them all well. Their backyard studio has water flood up to the floor board, but all was drying (surge from the Intercoastal). Their puppy Dolly is gaining a little in size, an energetic ball of wiggles!
We traded them some pumpkin bread for their North Carolina hand picked apples (photo Leaa texted us a few days ago). I will bake an apple pie soon!
On our way home, we went to Ancient City Brewery to watch the end of the Jaguar game (lost to Phil-Eagles), ate Sonny's BBQ sandwich for our lunch/dinner.
Once home, Ginger was walked/fed, AA and I went for a neighborhood bike ride (80 degrees, was a bit hot for me). Wore me out!
Ford and I watched a movie on Amazon Prime: Delicious (2021). I looked it up and it has 100% approval on Rotten Tomatoes! A French film about a chef who is fired by his Duke, and eventually begins a restaurant, around Revolution time, it had beautiful pastoral scenes, fine food and some history.
Finally, showers and PJ's for the rest of the evening!
