Washington D.C. Trip Part 2

Sunday: Morning arrived with the weather reporting rain in the afternoon. By the time we drove to the Arlington National Cemetery, it was sprinkling. We checked through security and jumped on the trolley (only saw four other people) - now it is pouring rain! And COLD! Our first stop was the Kennedy eternal flame. We had to wait for the next trolley and of course we are soaked. We drove by the Tomb of the Unknown soldier so fast, I did not get a photo. We did get to see much of the cemetery, through the rain and narrated as we were driven around. We were very glad to get to the car and turn on the heater!!

We arrived back to our room, turned on the room heat, and peeled out of our wet clothes and shoes. After warming up, we ordered lunch from District Taco - they did not disappoint - big bowls and I could only eat two fish tacos.

We decided to go to walk around the National Mall to burn off lunch calories. First we walked to The Ellipse and saw the White House from a distance. We then went to the Washington Monument and looked up at it. (It is very big enormous.) We made our way to the WWII Memorial and saw the Pacific and Atlantic sides of the memorial. Ford then said that he wanted to go see the Ford's Theater, so we made our way to 10th Street and we saw Ford's Theater and the house where Lincoln died. We walked back to the hotel and by then it was around 4 P.M.

Drove to Arlington cemetery:
Wet, windy, cold morning!!
Kennedy Eternal Flame:
Walking in the afternoon - no rain! Washington Monument:
White House:
WWII Memorial:
Ford's Theater:
And Monday we headed for home with AA attending school virtually, picked up Ginger at Carolyn's and arrived home to unpacked. Good to be home and our COVID19 trip was successful!
