Week of March 16th - Everything is Closing!

All in this week, the COVID-19/coronavirus has struck the USA in full force. We have been discussing and planning since the end of February, but now it is a threat and we are doing the social distancing and limiting contact with the outside world. So far take out food, grocery stores and pharmacies are still open. Three states have mandated stay at home (shelter-in-place) for non-essentials. It will be here soon. We went to the grocery store several times to restock, just in case all shuts down. School in Clay County was out on Friday March 13th. Spring break is March 20 - 30th so only one week missed so far. On-line learning will begin on March 31st.

Monday, while AA was at Carolyn's (a decision we made based on limited contact for all involved) we dropped off 70 books to Cara's home and then went to the River House, little did we know all bars would be closed the next day - all St. Patrick Day celebrations were cancelled.

Stopped by the River House on our way home. We brought our own disinfecting wipes for any surface we touched. Even gave a few to another couple who were not as prepared. We met our neighbors there, house # 1624 with their EH friend, Lee. We talked about a neighborhood party/social soon.

Our air conditioning does not work, finally determined that we need a new blower, so without cooling air during the week, in the 80's! Nice, with low humidity.
We cooked corned beef and cabbage (and potatoes and carrots) in the slow cooker for Tuesday's dinner. 
On the 18th, Kilee's birthday was a phone call, a card and gift card.
I am still working, keeping our distance and using Clorox wipes everywhere!
Thursday, 19th: Ford roasted a whole chicken. He was going to smoke some meat but our electric smoker finally quit! AA began a Khan Academy lesson on probability and statistics, her next module in Algebra 1.
Friday: Busy day for Ford with David Gray coming to trouble shoot our HVAC plus Bobby Welsh came and they hung the Beatles print along with installing three ceiling fans. Ford roasted Boston Butt for pulled pork, really yummy! I came home from work, gassed up car and went to Scrubbles to wash it.

Facebook: Finally have a few jobs done around the house, Ford and our local handyman have been busy. New mailbox, three ceiling fans with lights installed, new caulking around shower pan, kitchen lights fixed, outside deck lights working, hallway light fixed, etc. About 20 more tasks on our list....... Was getting ready for a few spring family social events which now will be delayed. And they hung our Beatles print. Get by with a little help from my friends......

The framed print is 5 foot by 5.5 foot - a miracle that Bobby and Ford were able to hang it!

Saturday, March 21st: AA and Ford golfed (joined Ed on the course). I did my usual Saturday morning routine of picking up the house! Made Bruschetta for dinner. Bill and Ben called to see how we were doing.
Sunday, March 22nd: We kept busy, actually watched parts of on-line church services (OPUMC, FIUMC and Jesse's church), golfing in morning and evening. I even hit a few golf balls. I am getting closer and closer to actually thinking of playing!! :)

In the morning, I divided the most over crowded aloe plant (not the "mother plant"the ones I planted a few years ago at Winterbourne):
Facebook: Plugging along at home, working on a small gardening chore (“patio gardening”), divided aloe plants that literally spilled over the pot and broke apart. Plus I have another pot not shown that is OVERGROWN too! Anyone local want one to plant? Have plenty rooting in water too.

Sunday, we ordered take out from Talons, the Taco Table Family Meal. We will have three or four meals from it! Huge!

They have many family size meals, we chose Taco Table that was excellent, build your own tacos and will feed the three of us for two more meals (AA loves tacos). Many starters and handhelds too. Our dream life (while not being disrespectful about the terrible spreading virus), golfing for second time today (not me silly, AA), gold tee boxes, playing Par golf. Monday, March 23rd: We are still having lazy mornings, but I did set my alarm for 6 a.m. so by Wednesday morning, 4:40 a.m. won't feel so bad (I have to work Saturday). Bobby Welsh has been working on our house to-do list and stopped by to look at a few more tasks (add shelf in 3rd bedroom closet, hang mirror in same room, replace pump in front door fountain, fix one of the Adirondack chairs, install a new switch for our new ceiling fan and light in the MB, etc). AA and I baked frozen ready made chocolate chip cookies (dough we bought from Livi six months ago!). 

Ford made a trip to the grocery and so much for physical space:
