This is the first year that AA said that she would like to stay up until midnight for New Year's Eve. We usually go to bed by 10 p.m. and listen to the fireworks as we drift into the next year. This year, I bought some helium balloons for a fun "pop" countdown.
On Saturday evening at the River House, we invited our neighborhood (Palace and Capri Condos) friends to drop in about 5 pm to share an early toast (on Sunday, 12/31/17). It has been really cold, so we have the heat on, will be very cold for the next week too! Brrrr! From Saturday at the RH:
Afterward, we settled in with our final glass of champagne, Ford's homemade chili (the bottle of beer went into the recipe) and a round of watching TV, switching between many channels. It was a downer since the Jaguars lost to Tennessee, but they are in the playoff, so will watch them from home next Sunday (the 7th). Well, probably not from home as AA has a NFJG tournament that same day at Amelia River.
Popping the 7 pm balloon! Scared Ginger every time!
Only three left:
All done! Happy New Year at midnight!
New Year's Day was quiet with us sleeping in, late breakfast, chili for lunch, playing with Ginger, laundry, putting together AA's HP puzzle, and pot roast dinner in the slow cooker! Hoping to get some Christmas ornaments packed too. All is fine on the first day in 2018!
Just a note to save this photo of the remaining SJRPP bricks, deceased employees. Since the plant is being demolished, Rusty Logan took the unclaimed bricks and placed in his yard/garden.
Happy New Year! Twelve years since AA was born so the Year of the Dog has rolled around!
