Monday - NFJG at San Jose 06/19/17

AA has played at San Jose before and even did a practice round with Ms. Penny last week. All on the front nine holes. Guess where she plays for this tournament - back nine holes! So much for knowing the course before playing a tournament.
She has three other girls in the Foundation group this week, one is new, Daisy Adams, Fernandina Beach; and regulars Alexa Fallis, Jacksonville; Grayson Kindig, St. Augustine.
The game started out with a plan to lay up on Hole 10 (1st hole, playing back nine) and AA drove a great shot. Her second shot to go over the water onto the green should have been a classic 3-wood; but unfortunately, she hit it flat and plunk – into the water! Not the best start, so a double bogey. AA knows this game is tough and that every hole counts - the game isn’t won or lost on one hole. So chin up and move on! She birdied a couple of holes and made par along with a few bogeys and double bogeys. In the end she won, so no matter how messy things get, keep playing! The last three holes were threatening with rain and thunder. We all did get wet and by the last hole (18), it poured! The kids playing 18 holes behind us were soaked too!
The course was being refurbished so the bunkers either were partially enlarged, or new sand in them, or under construction, so all kids played with the rule that no penalty to pick up a bunker ball and place it outside the bunker, no closer to the hole. That made some interesting changes, no longer fearful of a bunker, AA and Daisy played their best shot even if it was toward a bunker. Somewhat fun!
Daisy (turning 13 in July 2017) was a bit unsettled at first, then got into the game and showed that her skill was alot better than her score. She will improve tremendously once she has more experience playing tournaments. Practice green with Emmett:

Delayed as the Foundation Boys were threesomes and the girls group in front of us was a bit slow - met up with them during a wait - Alexa and her Dad:

From Jack's Newsletter:
The Foundation Boys had eight in the field, including Phillip Dunham who returned after wrist rehabilitation. The youngster continued where he left off when he advanced to the Boys 10-12 Division. Dunham will return to the Boys 10-12 Division when able to compete for 18 holes. Dunham would shoot an even round of 34 to bring home another NFJG TOUR Gold. Matthew French applied pressure all day, including a chip in on the 18th green for par, but eight pars and a bogey would leave him one stroke back. French would take the Silver Medal and Keller Gray from Atlantic Beach Country Club would sink two birdies on the day and become the birdie leader. One at the par-3 14th hole and another at the modified par-3 16th hole.

The Foundation Girls had four in the field this week. Alyzabeth Morgan would capture her 13th Victory posting a score of 42 slightly edging out Alexa Fallis by one stroke, who shot 43. The Bronze Medal would go to new comer Daisy Adams of Fernandina Beach. Daisy shot a round of 53.
Afterwards, we were all hungry so went to V Pizza:
Calzone for AA and Bolognese pizza for us!
Home to release Ginger from the sunroom!
