Signing Mother's Day Cards

I bought most of the cards needed for Mother's Day and "allowed" AA to sign a few of them. She took to the task right away! A few of the cards, she signaled to us "done" and others she studied very seriously!

Also, posting a few pictures of our pool practice time before AA's first survival swim lesson. New bathing suit from Nana of the North!

She was happy to see some young adults jumping and diving in the adult pool.

No pictures from AA's first survival swim lesson (ISR) today; just let me say that AA did wonderful even though she cried the whole time. She did as told, held onto the side of the pool, splashed in the deep water, walked on the pool steps, floated briefly on her front and back (no face/head underwater at the first lesson) and hugged her instructor pleading to let her come back to us. But since we observed the few toddlers taking a lesson before AA's, seems they all do that. Still, am hoping AA doesn't hate the pool!

I hate to tell you, but tomorrow will be worse! She'll know what's coming when you put her in her swimsuit and that will be it. However, each day after that will get better. Emilee HATED swim lessons that first week (she was 4) but was so proud to show me that same weekend. She went back to her teacher to tell her how much she showed me and it was "I love swimming lessons!" after that. I hope you have a similar experience!

Hugs,
Donna W.

Oh, she will love it! I remember when I did the survival skills with WonderBoy 9 years ago. He was the same way and now he is a virtual fish!

Everyone will love to get cards that are signed. My Mia started on the cards about 2 years ago and hasn't stopped. Now each card gets self portrait in them. She gets it right down to the hair or no hair, glasses, and earning.

Hope the second day of classes go well. We start swim lessons next month.

AA will do great in swim lessons. As a swim instructor - the first lessons are the hardest, I have found in 24 yrs of teaching that you have to be consistent and daily. I also find the first day is rough, she may want to go back tomorrow since she knows the teacher lets her return to you and is starting to trust. Once she goes under the day after is very rough.

We brought Allie home at 14 months and she was in swim lessons at 18 months and cried the whole 2 weeks. Only wanted to swim with my assistant not even with me. But I was the bad guy and took her under, Ellen didn't. By 21 months she was jumping off of diving boards. I think there are some pics in my archives. My blog hasn't worked in a few months and we need to get it fixed. At 4 she can't wait to start lessons next week.

Again - Good luck and she will do great!!!

Aww, I hope she starts to like the water. My Sarah is 4 1/2 and LOVES it! She's been taking lessons since last summer and can swim like a fish! But, if you ask her, she'll tell you she swims like a mermaid! :)
AA is adorable, btw!

It may be a bit difficult at first but once she starts feeling comfortable she will love it!!
I haven't met a child yet that doesn't love the water!
