Usually there is but a single candle burning... Occasionally, two or more.
The burning candle serves to remind us of those we have loved. Those we love. And those we will love. We light the candle to celebrate a birthday. We light a candle in celebration and honor of one no longer with us.
No fanfare. No ritual.
Just a private moment to reflect upon and to lift up the memory of a special someone.
A candle burns today for Alyson's dad. Tuesday we light a candle for my mom.
Each day, we offer our prayers and give thanks for those past, present and future...

I love your candle lighting tradition. We light candles on All Saints Eve for our family members who have passed on.
It really touched my heart to open your card this year and receive a photo of Alyzabeth. It is strange how you can develop a sense of family between people you have never met, but after years of waiting together, you just have to care :) I am so happy your girl is home.
Very touching, brings on much sentiment.
What a wonderful tribute to your loved ones.
Merty Christmas.
Holding up your loved ones as 'light' - a beautiful testimony to their impact on your lives.
Such a peaceful and special way to give tribute to those you love!!
Merry Christmas,
Lisa
What a beautiful post. I want to thank you for our Christmas card , I have had a really emotional week and I can't begin to tell you how much the picture of the baby meant to me. It really made my day.
Love and blessings, Kristy
That is a beautiful tradition. I try to do that as well, at least once a year in memory of those family members I've lost.
((hugs))
I understand.
Tomorrow will be a better day... pls come visit!
What a beautiful sentiment! We burned a red candle on CM's birthday, to honor her birthmother.

In our faith we light a long burning candle on the anniversary of a loved ones death. I think it is a wonderful way to remember someone, and your beautiful post reminded me just how lucky we are to have had these special people in our lives. It is important to remember!
Your post is a beautiful tribute to your loved ones.
