A Candle Burns

Usually there is but a single candle burning... Occasionally, two or more.

The burning candle serves to remind us of those we have loved. Those we love. And those we will love. We light the candle to celebrate a birthday. We light a candle in celebration and honor of one no longer with us.

No fanfare. No ritual.
Just a private moment to reflect upon and to lift up the memory of a special someone.
A candle burns today for Alyson's dad. Tuesday we light a candle for my mom.

Each day, we offer our prayers and give thanks for those past, present and future...

I love your candle lighting tradition. We light candles on All Saints Eve for our family members who have passed on.
It really touched my heart to open your card this year and receive a photo of Alyzabeth. It is strange how you can develop a sense of family between people you have never met, but after years of waiting together, you just have to care :) I am so happy your girl is home.

That is a beautiful tradition. I try to do that as well, at least once a year in memory of those family members I've lost.

What a beautiful sentiment! We burned a red candle on CM's birthday, to honor her birthmother.

In our faith we light a long burning candle on the anniversary of a loved ones death. I think it is a wonderful way to remember someone, and your beautiful post reminded me just how lucky we are to have had these special people in our lives. It is important to remember!
