If Only This Works Again!

Mama was able to get baby girl to sit in her stroller. Earlier attempts were met with quiet, cute disapproval. Yeah, right... Earlier attempts were met with the veracity of a screaming banshee. However, mama tried and tried again and lo and behold, she was able to push her through the halls and up and down the elevator until she fell asleep for a much needed nap. For mom and daughter :)

Once most assuredly asleep, daddy got the chance to take over and give mama a small break in the action. Right now, baby girl is sleeping in her stroller and mama is curled up on the bed. And we have peace. We have quiet.. We have a smile on daddy's face :)

Post later. Lazy day today. And we are ready for that...

Hallelujah for stroller rides!

So glad that worked for you, and what a great thing that Mama got to nap when Alyzabeth did!

Thank God. You all really need to sleep.
My Grace, adopted at 4, truly grieved......broke my heart.....only 3-4 times in China. The rest of the time she went out of her way to ingratiate herself with everyone. I had to softly start setting some limits with her when she was a little "naughty". Anyone who spoke Mandarin that we met I had go over and over the plan.......new Mama, Baba sisters; going on a "faigee" (plane) to new home. I was so afraid she wouldn't understand. At 4 she was able to grasp a fair bit. Took her a good year or two to really settle. My brave little girl.....you should see her now!!!

Oh, that is good news for you both! I am loving the videos. I purchased one of those flip video cameras you have, and if these videos were taken on that, I am quite impressed with the quality. Sending good thoughts for more peaceful sleeping moments!

Yeah for stroller rides and Mum sleeping!!

I totally feel your pain as when we first got Maisie she would only sleep ON me and with my pneumonia that was lots of fun! Even once home that continued for a couple of months before we were able to transition her to first a pack-n-play and then finally a crib. In addition no matter how hard we tried whilst in China, we never got her to ride in the stroller. To make things even more interesting she preferred, loudly may I note, that when we were holding her, that we be standing...all the time.

I recognize those halls you're walking and know that they've seen many miles from many parents. No matter how difficult it is to see Alyzabeth An's pain and grieving, cherish every moment and milestone.

I'm just catching up with you guys since I've been without power for a week now due to high wind storms here. What a little blessing you have! I'm so glad you are finally turning some corners and able to get some much needed rest. Sending prayers and good vibes your way!

I remember pushing the stoller around the halls not too long ago. Your daughter is beautiful. So nice to see the progression of her slowly coming out od her shell.

Your journey will soon come to an end in China, so enjoy every single waking moment. We're loving following along. I rush to the computer each day to see what you have posted. Karsynn's name was Nan Min Bao. In fact, all the babies had the names Nan and Min, and their first names were different. Keep the posts coming!!!

Yay!! What a blessing that your little one is now comfortable enough to be in her stoller and even catch a NAP!! Whee!!! So glad you were able to rest a little too Alyson and that daddy was able to take a shift. I'm sure he's been longing to do so for a long time but waiting for your baby girl to give the go-ahead. She did so today...she just doesn't know it! ;o) Praying for all. Good news that you have a quieter day together.

Love and prayers. Catherine

I am glad things continue to improve, even if it is 2 steps forward, 1 back. Things for us got much better in Guangzhou. There were no longer familiar sites around and I was the familiar thing at that point. I don't know how Alyzabeth will react, but here is hoping for the same result.

Also, our first good night was when I switched up the routine. Her routine was bath, dress in night clothes, then start screaming. One night, I skipped the bath, let her sleep in a tshirt, and we went straight to bed. Without the routine cues, the crying didn't come.

Just throwing ideas out there! Here's hoping things keep on the right path. You guys are doing so great!

Glad you're getting the much needed nap time.

This is totally off-topic but I am convinced there is an enormous warehouse in this world where all hotels go to get their 'busy'carpet!

C's Mom said...

...the warehouse is next to the cruise-ship carpet barn.

Wow! We appreciate your sharing your ---- Julia just gave me grief for being so "formal". OK. We are having a blast keeping up with your journey. Alyzabeth is blossoming under your loving care, and we thank you for sharing that joy.
Can't wait until you are back to meet her in person.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the three of you, and all in your group.

I saw your link on my freind Viv's site and I just check out your blog. After having adopted twice from China and having one huge grieving issue with our first child, Katie Starr, I just wanted to say that it does get better. It may be a long road but I have found that the tougher it is in the beginning, the better it is down the road.

Hang in there with your beauty!
You are all doing great.
