3 Word Sunday - Show & Tell

Three Word Sunday: The Blueberries are about all gone. As is the case each year, it's a race to see who eats more, the birds or us! I think the birds keep winning :)

Show & Tell: We planted these three bushes so that I could pick blueberries just as my family did (does) in Maine; I don't think they come ripe until late July.
I love blueberries - in my cereal, pies, my Mom's famous Blueberry Buckle and smoothies. All very yummy! Here in Florida, these bushes don't produce an abundance every year... or I miss them due to the critters getting to them first!

Someday we may just have to cover the bushes with netting but then that's maybe someday...

Hmmmm - you need a scarecrow in the garden don't you!!!? Some people hang up old cds and the shiny light scares the birds off until they get wise!!

I love blueberries! That would be some kind of race for berries between the birds and you. We had a cherry tree at our other house and I think we only got a handful of cherries because the birds loved them.

I love the photos of your growing things / plants.

My mom grew up in Rockland. We use to go clam digging, blueberry picking and beach combing when we would visit. One of our books growing up was "Blueberries for Sal". Funny but true - we had blueberry pancakes last night for dinner! Just had a yen . . .

Maybe one year soon you will get a bumper crop!

Thanks for sharing and jogging a lovely memory.

Tess is a big blueberry fan, I see she's in good company. Just wait until next summer when Alyzabeth might beat those birds to it!

I'd love to have blueberry bushes, or raspberry bushes, or something with food on it. My yard's too small though. Dammit.

Stinks that you didn't get to enjoy any of the yummy blueberries. I hope the critters liked them! ;)

Oh boy- I love blueberries. I spent a few weeks every summer at a Girl Scout camp where there was a lake and all around the lake were blueberry bushes. We would run around and stuff ourselves. Sometimes we would pick gallons of them, and the cook would make blueberry pancakes for a weekend breakfast. Too bad they go for $3 a cup in the stores these days!
