Time has an article on Stay-At-Home-Dads in this month's magazine entitled Fatherhood 2.0. While it doesn't exactly cover new ground I find that I naturally gravitate to articles that bear heavily on my life soon-to-be. As well as that of my good friend Don...
Don and I have and continue to encounter varied responses when it is shared that we will be the Stay-At-Home-Dads. I'll not go into any details. It's easier to just let it go at this point. I've talked with Don on numerous occasions. We're excited about our upcoming roles as Dad's who will be the primary care givers during the day. We're not Mr. Mom's. We're the Dad's. Each of our daughters will have Mom's. Be & Alyson...
We're not attempting to be naive here, we know that many bumps, those planned and those unexpected await us. We'll do our best. Our very, very best... to be the dad's our daughters will be proud of and the husband's our wives both respect and deserve. Thank God for our wives.
We can do it Don. We will do it friend. And it's all good.....
Peace

Jarrod and I had some funny looks when we told people that I was going back to work and jarrod was taking the leave...I just say geez it's 2007!
You will do fine..
You are going to be the best Daddy...
Kim
My husband would LOVE to have that option. I think it is great. You will both be great stay at home Dad's.
I think it's great! Here in Canada we are priviledged to get 8.5 months of parental leave when a child is adopted. I remember at my agency's adoption intro session 2 of the recently returned dads shared that they were splitting the leave with their wives and each took 1/2 the time. I think it's great! Another dad with my agency was in a similar situation to yours. He retired just prior to travelling to China for their 2nd child and is now a stay-at-home dad and doing a great job! Your little girls will be priviledged to have such great dads caring for them at home.
Hi, I've been lurking on your site for quite some time. I think it's wonderful that you get to be the stay-at-home dad. My brother-in-law just recently took on this position and their family is better for it. My sister is less stressed and thriving in her job. He is less stressed and their for his children (albeit a little older) It's awesome that you get to be home.. don't let anyone steal your thunder!
Ford,
You rock! I've had quite the array of jobs from power plant mechanic helper to professional singer/comic to airline flunkie for 21 years - but 'stay-at-home-dad' will be my finest.
I'll be leanin' on ya, bro.
Just call me HomeDaddy.
Your friend,
Don
