The most unlucky number considered by many Chinese is the number fourteen (14), which is widely translated to the phrase, “guaranteed death”. Think of the number 14 as the Chinese equivalent to our superstitious notion of the number 13.
I’ll not drivel on about The Wait. All 14 months of it so far since LID. Thought we would have already had a referral. Traveled to China. Back home with Alyzabeth An in time to celebrate Christmas 2006.
Didn’t happen. Still Waiting. It’s a huge club. A huge, not so fun club.
Many have shared with us that if we were rich like those “Hollywood” people we would already have our little girl. Thanks. Your words of shared enlightenment coupled with a keen insight certainly brings an aura of peace and contentment to our lives. Unless of course you were saying the adoption process is all about $$$. I didn’t think so.
So number 14 comes and it goes. Bye-Bye.
Now we will quietly Wait. Counting off the numbers 15. Then 16. 17. 18.
All for Alyzabeth An. For however long it takes…

Hello,
Just want to say hang in there because the waiting is worth it once you have that little one in your arms. I know how difficult it is but honestly, you will be with the child that you were meant to share your life with. I posted a note on my blog titled Quiet Moments From A Nursery not too long after we brought our daughter home ( Feb 21st/2007 is the date of the entry). Go and read it if you have second to spare. I promise your nursery moment will be here very soon.
She is out there and waiting for her Mom and her Dad !
Take Care,
Andrea
Happy 14 months down!
"Still Waiting. It’s a huge club. A huge, not so fun club." LOL! I'm waiting with ya!
I feel ya...for however long it takes.
All the best on 14 down!
Happy 14th LIDaversary!
Here's to hoping that it won't be too much longer now.
Congrats on making it to 14 Months LID!! I also know (first-hand) that the wait can be REALLY difficult and frustrating at times.... but the 2 of you have been really upbeat and positive throughout this experience. You 2 are definitely an inspiration to me!!

Club member here! Congrats on making it to 14! I didn't know that about the # 14 being unlucky.
Well, tomorrow marks 15 for me! Sending you good thoughts for another month down!!!

When I was waiting for my first Chinese daughter, China had the infamous 'slowdown' which was really that they closed. Supposedly they were moving offices. I went through two Christmases in the wait...I finally got to where I'd say I'd have her by the Christmas that was 10 years out. I traveled in June 1997 for her.
Hang in! Those who quit the China program didn't get their child. I kept saying, I'd keep my papers in.

Waiting alone with you with the same LID of 1/27 -- yes, the 14 month point came and went with little excitement for us either! Lucy
