Eagle Harbor PGA Team Jr WIN!

A quick backtrack to Saturday: Ford took AA for some golfing, she hadn't played in four days. I roasted a 16 lb turkey, made mashed potatoes, homemade gravy and green bean casserole, plus Ford's special canned cranberry sauce. It was delicious - we ate way too much food over the past three days! Then we (with Joy) walked to the River House for a short time to relax and enjoy the beautiful weather, cool but dry.
Sunday 11/26/17: The Eagle Harbor Elite (East) Team won their first playoff match against Timuquana Country Club. It was a shut-out at 12 flags to none. Happy our kids (all boys with one girl, AA!) played so well. Coach Bryan said a few of the matches were close, so we were all surprised by winning all flags (four teams fielded have a chance to each win the three flags per match, one flag is earned with best 2 of 3 holes, otherwise they split).
Our Sunday began with walking to church; then Nana Joy and I walked most of the nine holes, then we went home and had leftover turkey and sides for dinner - then baths!
Coach Bryan's introduction of players:

AA was paired with Tyler M. for all nine holes, plus it was his birthday today! Hole #4 - Par 3:
Tyler's Dad, Joe was the match monitor, he did a great job being patient, coaching and helping the other team through many decisions. Waiting on the three Timuquana players:

Now to see when the semi-final match will be played.

Black Friday - Day After Thanksgiving with Justin and Kilee

Justin and Kilee came to see Nana Joy and for Poppy's Fried Fish dinner, along with Cathy, Werner and cousin Carolyn.
The food was good, homemade cole slaw and tartar sauce (made by Joy), fish and hush puppies, plus canned baked beans. We had my homemade apple pie and leftover banana pudding with vanilla ice cream. Carolyn brought a homemade pecan cheesecake pie which was delicious! She also brought a store-bought pie in case her homemade wasn't very tasty - but her's was so good! She also brought champagne and cranberry juice for our annual "poinsettia" drinks, but we were WAY TOO FULL to drink after dinner! And Cathy and Werner brought us a nice red wine, very thankful for these sweet gifts. Just need to have some time to drink when we are not STUFFED with food!
Ginger got lots of attention!

Carolyn arrived just as we began dinner, so missed her in this photo:
We did a repeat of 2016's day after Thanksgiving with Kilee and Alyzabeth with Ginger. Ginger was only 5 months old and now she's 17 months old! She's very shaggy as she needs to go to the groomers! I made a collage and will post a few of the individual pictures.
Ginger loved the attention:
AA decided to try taking photos just as Kilee was sneaking up the stairs behind us. The girls had some fun together, no acting stand-offish or reserved, good seeing them relax and be silly together. Kilee is in 8th grade, so she did well to hang out with us and be cool. She also performed a dance for us to the song "Let it snow". She's a good dancer and hopes to continue with it through to college.
No black Friday shopping, just a wonderful day with family!

Thanksgiving Dinner at the Wilhelmy's!

Happy Thanksgiving! Ford made dinner yeast rolls (Parker House style) and a large pan of banana pudding for the turkey day dinner. There was a smaller crowd than normal, maybe about 25 adults and kids, so with the rain, it was a full house inside their spacious home. The kids and later some of the "manly" adults, braved the chilly wet backyard for some football. Even though the kids got wet, they didn't seem to mind the rain. Nicole has plenty of play toys, so most were content to explore inside.
From Facebook: Loved seeing Mila's face while everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to her (and Nicole included Ford in the birthday wishes ❤️). Mila then would not blow out her candles, so Ford and Avery did the honors! AND I never saw a child open her birthday presents so fast - but her Mom Nicole Hollaway Wilhelmy was even more impressive writing down the gift and givers names even faster!!

I think this was a double dare to NOT blow out the candles!
Deciding what to do as Mila was NOT going to blow out the candles:
I think it was actually Avery who blew out the candles just as Ford was going to help:
Mila opening gifts:
Cathy tried to get them together for a family photo:

Little Remy was so nervous around the crowd, Nicole put him in his "thunder" jacket to calm him, and Cathy spent some time reassuring him:
From Facebook: Happy Thanksgiving! Resting after a delicious turkey day meal at Nicole Hollaway Wilhelmy and Jordan's home. Nana Joy and Aunt Pat enjoying an after dinner chat.
Nicole and Jordan always make it a relaxing day, even with the kids running around and they were baking many sides and pies too. Thank you to them for hosting and getting this family together!

Thanksgiving Week - And Apple Pie!

I worked Monday and Tuesday, but was thankful to be off on Wednesday. Just catching up on the week. Ford caught a cold, but so far we have not had it (yet)! Saturday was AA's tournament and I baked an apple pie for Ford - from Maine apples, a gift from my Mom for his birthday. AA also rode her bike after school last week, but we need a larger/adult helmet. She's growing up!

Yummy!! We ate apple pie for breakfast too - until it was gone!
Apple peeler (gift many years ago from Charlotte):
Ford's 1987 Harley turned 30 years old!
Christopher's birthday was celebrated on Sunday in Maine:
The Stone family!
Sunday, AA went to PGA Team practice, then in early evening I had the fire-pit roaring, great for toasting marshmallows - 57 degrees outside!
Monday - No School!! AA played 18 holes with Penny at Hidden Hills. A very hard course, it is on her list of goals to play several times before the U.S. Kids Worlds 2018.
Monday evening was the Eagle Harbor PGA Junior Team Banquet. I arrived just in time for the dinner. AA's all boys team is very good, but hard for her to break into the friendship cliques - boys are just not thinking of being inclusive with the only girl, sadness sometimes sets in as she loves playing with the boys, but at this age, just doesn't always happen.
Ford practiced making his yeast rolls ("Parker House") for Thanksgiving.
Wednesday, after cleaning house, Ford making his banana pudding and yeast rolls; Nana Joy arrived. We had a lazy afternoon (we are all tired!!), then went to the River House for a pizza dinner and music. We had fun trying to find Thanksgiving Day songs.
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and we are thankful that Nicole and Jordan are hosting again! We will miss seeing the Cruce's - Leaa and Jesse and family are in Connecticut while Marsha and Carl are hosting Katie and Barrett and family at their place.

NFJG Tournament - Cimarrone

AA played in the Elite Foundation group, twelve (12) total players - mixed boys and girls, 18 holes. I didn't go, with working full time, I stayed home, got organized, laundry, ironed shirts and pants, made pie crusts ahead, made/baked an apple pie from Maine apples (gift to Ford from Mom). I walked the dog, did dishes three times, some light cleaning, and worried about AA's golf tournament!

She did fine with a score of 89 and was the lowest scoring girl. She had seven par scores which is really good. One bad hole (took an eight on a par four), if she had made par on that hole, she would have tied for first place, so excellent round! She also said she made a second bad hole by four-putting. Overall, another good tournament for her! Group of some of the 12 players:

Jack's Newsletter about the tournament:
Foundation Elite: This brand new 18-hole division had a great turnout for this event, their largest field of the young season with twelve players! It was a hotly contested division too with the top six players (half of the field) all ending within four strokes of each other. In the end it was Chase Ricks (85) edging out the Elliot brothers, Mateo (86) and Lucas (86), who tied for second only one stroke behind. This division also produced five players who recorded at least 7 pars or better!

Another Week in November 13 - 17th

I worked another full week, ending number three! I found some old photos used in the final commissioning report, this one is of the control room (Power Block 1987):

Monday, 13th was typical, with Robotics. Ford and AA visited the River House and did her homework on Tuesday after playing some golf. She had a math test and science test late this week, she scored 100 and 95. She does study and review her work constantly.
Wednesday, she played a practice round at Cimarrone, in very COLD, windy weather. Thursday was Robotics again, then Friday, she played nine holes with Penny. Ford made a homemade pizza, which I baked, then we took it to the River House for a relaxing Friday dinner (we didn't go to Liv's play as it would be a late night, AA needs her regular rest the night before a big tournament). The River House has changed, as Kelly L. is no longer there, Margie and Patti are part-time along with regular Ginger. Kelly P. is keeping things running, managing what I would expect is a difficult job. Not sure about harassment, but drunk men abound!
I took this on Friday, the weather was warmer but still chilly on the deck:
The side deck is being repaired now:
Somehow a house boat got lose or grounded, not sure, been in front of the Palace for a week.
I found some old t-shirts from Leaa's high school days, gave them so that another generation may wear them. From Leaa's Facebook/Instagram: When @alysonmorgan8060 gives you t-shirts from storage and your musical obsessed daughter wants to wear them to school. #fullcircle
Ford sent this photo of last years Mum plant, to me while I was at work, a busy bee!
Friday, 111717, Livi was in a school play about the American Revolution. We did not attend, so Ford congratulated her by phone. The Cruce family is traveling to Washington D.C. then to Cara and Travis' for Thanksgiving - and to see baby Pearl!
Saturday, AA has a NFJG Tournament at Cimarrone, the new Elite Foundation is a challenge with 18 holes from either red or green tee box. Twelve kids (boys and girls) total so hoping she has a good round, she always says she will do her best!

Ford's Birthday - Sunday! Part 3

The BIG 66th! We began our day with a breakfast casserole, fresh slices of Maine apples and some apple cider for breakfast. Ford opened his gifts which ranged from iTunes gift card, socks and a jalapeno plant (all from AA), assorted beers, Metro Diner gift card, frying pan, black polo shirt from me. I then took some casserole to Nancy and Frank (she had surgery last week) and her wedding photos Ford took. A great morning catching up on my monthly WPOA duties too!

AA loves Elmo - he's holding her homemade card for her Daddy:
We then drove to Leaa's home, celebrated some more with a BBQ luncheon. Had a good visit with BBQ provided by Leaa and her famous macaroni and cheese, plus lots of sides from Marsha and Cathy (we brought Cowboy Beans and the sheet cake). And Ford received some nice bottles as gifts too (thank you Marsha and Cathy).
Homemade "Nana Joy's" sheet cake:
I asked them to pose and they did a good job!
Then to the Conch House to hear Jesse play in the afternoon {Spartina Band}. Dylan sang with her Daddy, then right after we left, she played drums for one song, she loves the stage! All the girls had free roam, and Dylan and AA hooked up a few times:
Singer Dylan with Daddy:
After we left, since it was the closing hours on Ford's birthday, we stopped on the way home at the Ancient City Brewery for a beer. We were shocked to see the Jaguar football game still on as we were listening to the radio when the game was almost over and Jaguars had surely lost! Surprise! Overtime. And they won. We enjoyed watching those few minutes as we don't seem to get to watch Sunday football anymore. A fun way to finish the day!
We enjoyed hearing our lovely granddaughter Dylan singing with her Daddy, Jesse. Very sweet. Ford had a wonderful birthday today, daughter Leaa made it all possible, we love you dear daughter. I think that is the most we have celebrated his birthday in four years!!
