South Hampton Golf - U.S. Kids Tournament 06/23/13

South Hampton, Jacksonville Summer Tour. Another hot day on the course. AA prevailed and won first place.

Each had some better holes, some missed opportunities so moods can swing from happy to unhappy. In the end, all smiles. Everyone wants to win, so this is good experience to be able to adjust and keep trying until the last hole.

Drive, Chip and Putt Regional Competition - St. Johns Golf

We entered AA in the local Drive, Chip and Putt contest. We did not tell her much about it, just that it was a golf association that would measure her in the three categories. We didn't tell her there would be awards (since we didn't know) and didn't prepare her for a competition. Next year we will know better. We told her to do her best, but not sure that really meant anything different to her. We should have learned about how it was going to be scored. Next year will be different!

Next year, AA will be seven years old and we will know what we are doing and how to prepare her better. She had fun running around with Marie!

Summer Swimming!

We finally found time yesterday to have some friends come swim at the pool; long overdue. Somehow each day gets so busy and we really want to spend time with our local friends. So this past Saturday we had fun in the pool with AA's golfing buddy Joe Forte. Not only is his Daddy the local U.S. Kids Golf Director, he also is married to our grown (Leaa) daughter's best friend, Katie.
AA had fun with Joe and we enjoyed our time with the Forte family.

We see this family every Kids Golf tournament, happy to have some pool time with them. We endured a rain shower during lunch, but then got back in the pool. When we get back from our summer vacation, will have to do this again!

Week of June 17th - Fun, Family and Food

This week started with babysitting Alivia and Dylan on Monday and Tuesday, same as last week.
We decided to do something different, I took AA and Livi off for the day while Hubby/Poppy stayed with Dylan.
We went bowling, lunch at Cafe Eleven, back to their house for a swim, then baths and a little indoor fun. The girls played fashion show.
Ford made a new recipe from Cook's Country. We like that show and have used many of their recipes.
Wednesday, AA and her Daddy went golfing and then to the pool and a bath all before 11:00 a.m. trying to beat the hot heat. They then met me for lunch at the Blue Fish. We thought we would surprise AA, as we hadn't met up for lunch on one of my work days since school was out last summer. She also shopped in Cowford traders and purchased some binoculars (kid style/size).
With more golfing, swim lessons and home schooling, we are keeping busy! This coming weekend, AA has three golf events and then it is off to vacation Bible school at OPUMC. Our vacation is fast approaching so I need to get packing!

Summer is here! A list is my best friend and this one is about being present with your children.

1. Come into my bedroom at night, tuck me in and sing me a song. Also tell me stories about when you were little.
2. Give me hugs and kisses and sit and talk with me privately.
3. Spend quality time just with me, not with my brothers and sisters around.
4. Give me nutritious food so I can grow up healthy.
5. At dinner talk about what we could do together on the weekend.
6. At night talk to me about about anything; love, school, family etc.
7. Let me play outside a lot.
8. Cuddle under a blanket and watch our favorite TV show together.

Six Words You Should Say Today: I also posted on Facebook about this article written by "Hands Free Mama"; Rachel writes about how she came to this conclusion of saying six words to your child. She tells a story that will help you with your child. "I love to see you play".
I have the same emotional moment every time I see one of our children (grown and little) and grandchildren perform/play. It can be any recital, sporting event, family event or when they are reading a book to you. I have to look away as I tear up. I thought I was the only one, I was convinced I have an emotional problem (I probably do, inside can't accept the love of others, painful for me) whatever that means! Love reading articles that clearly help me understand 'life" better. There is so many wonderful Moms and Dads writing about their experiences and family wellness, I can always find great reading about any topic! Hope you enjoy this one.

Father's Day Follow-Up!

Our family gathered at the Outback Crab Shack on Six Mile Creek, located just south on State Road 13 of the Shands Bridge. The six Dads were there: Grand-Dads Ford, Werner, Carl; the younger set: Justin, Jesse and Jordan. Christa did her perfect nanny/au pair impersonation; she's always patient with the girls and loves hanging with them to give the parents a break.

Daddy Ford received homemade cards from the grands. AA took some pads of paper and wrote Happy Father's Day on it to give to all the Dads. For AA's Dad, we selected a new hard cover the for iPad and a stylus. Even though the iPad was a gift to me, each of us keeps buying accessorizes for it; we are a family that shares the one iPad that sticks together!
