Daily Dose of AA - Blogging Break
Here's a picture from this past weekend, while at the Jekyll Island Hotel.
We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel, the staff were friendly and helpful, always someone around the corner just waiting to help. The Grand Dining Room was divine and we enjoyed a few room service meals in the Pub. We did endure two days of cold rainy weather but the sun came out Sunday afternoon. We had planned to visit with DD Leaa and Grands on Monday, but the flu has hit their home. We will stay far away! Dear Sweet Stay-At-Home Hubby is entertaining AA during her school break, while I am back to work!
Time seems to fly and I haven't carved out the time to keep this journal updated. I should get back to blogging next week!

Sunday Morning - The Wait Continues
We have been at the Jekyll Island Hotel and Golf course on and off since Friday. The weather has been the worst possible for the area; cold, rainy, windy with some thunder and lightening thrown in! Alyzabeth has not started her first nine holes yet, so all eighteen will be played today. We were at the course this morning for everyone's 8:00 a.m. tee time and another delay was called. So in the meantime we wait. Here's a photo from last night's family dinner at the Jekyll Island Convention Center, with Mia Raines. We met this family for the first time after years of following our adoption stories.
**UPDATE** Tournament has officially been reduced to a nine hole event. Hoping to tee off sometime after noon...
**FINAL UPDATE** We came. We played. We are going home... :)

Golfing with Uncle Bill
We had a great visit with family, Ford's brother and wife; AA's Uncle Bill and Aunt Joan, from Missouri. We went to the River House, Club Continental brunch, had a nice family dinner at Leaa and Jesse's home, played a round of golf (six-year old style - only nine holes). We ate meals together and caught up on the family and Ford's hometown news.
Here's our golfing round at Eagle Harbor Golf Course:
Thank you for visiting!

Cuz - The Redmonds
Cousin Will was in Florida visiting Auntie Carolyn, his daughter. We met for breakfast (I have been sick with sinus infection and cold the past week so we barely got this visit in before he left). We met at a breakfast/lunch diner near I-95. Here is Cuz looking over my new book from Facebook photos:
Ford took a group photo, with the sun full into our eyes! (I think it was my choice to gather beside the truck, next time I need to pick a spot where we don't have to squint).
Hope Cuz has more good visits with his Florida family!

Odds and Ends Week of March 12, 2013
March 15th: Hubby (Grandfather - "Poppy") attended Grand #1 dance competition at UNF, she had a solo dance. I was sick (sinus infection and cold) at home with AA, plus it was too late to take AA out (that's our story!).
Kilee is a beautiful and graceful girl; here's to her success and fun she has!
Earlier in the week: Nana Ann sent AA a lollipop mold, so we had to make some with melt-able chocolate. We used sprinkles we had on hand to add decorations. Very easy and of course, who doesn't love chocolate.
Here's some photos when we received the box from Nana:
Thank you Nana!

Spring Tour 2013 - Fernandina Beach Golf
We are enjoying the U. S. Kids Jacksonville Golf Spring Tour; this past Sunday we were at Fernandina Beach, which we have been once before (see November 2012 blog post).
Practice swings at the driving range:
Above: the golf course is right across from the airport and it was a busy and noisy day!
Below: The Grandmother (Janice) keeping the Forte children busy during the game:
With a tied score, the girls went out to play hole number one again. AA's competitor has a strong drive and lots of potential; AA was able to keep her drives straight and won the hole. Her first playoff and her first win during a playoff!
A great day in many ways as we met new friends, learned about having a playoff and know more about patience. Golf is a wonderful sport for a child to play!

Basil Thai Restaurant - Saturday Lunch
While enjoying our Saturday together, AA and I went to the Basil Thai Restaurant on Hendricks Avenue after spending a few hours at the MOSH (Museum of Science and History). We particularly wanted to see the RACE exhibit"Are we so different"? It was not geared to smaller children so alot of explaining to get through all the stations. I was a bit disappointed that the same exhibits AA and I saw a few years ago, are the same ones there; not much new. It was good that AA was so young that she really didn't remember much from that first visit.
Back to lunch, our Thai food was very good and fresh, we enjoyed the main dish of noodles, vegetable and chicken called Lad Na. We each had soup and the edamame as an appetizer.

Crabtree Park - University Blvd
While out and about last Saturday, we drove past this little park. I turned around and we stopped for a few minutes to stretch AA's legs. Crabtree Park has no amenities/facilities. It has swings, a baseball field and the playground. Lots of sand too. We both had to stop several times to shake out our shoes!
It was a good "pit stop" during our busy day!
