I Remember...

When TV stations signed off for the night.

When the emergency number 911 did not exist.

When schools didn’t offer kindergarten.

When you only dialed 4 numbers for a local call.

When the ladies were not allowed to wear shorts on campus at my college (public).

When joining the military was not voluntary.

When segregation was the law.

When my public High School did not allow a guy’s hair to grow over his shirt collar.

When girls basketball forbid full court play for all players.

When 18 year olds could be drafted but not vote.

When drive-in movies were popular.

When shopping malls did not exist.

When stores were closed by law on Sunday.

When divorce was way taboo.

When abortions were legal in some states and not in others.

When most homes did not have air conditioning.

When folks wore their Sunday best when flying.

When gas was 25 to 35 cents a gallon.

When kids could walk to school – safely.

When kids could trick or treat – safely.

When adoption was hush hushed.

When school spankings were common place.

When birth control pills didn’t exist.

When Eisenhower was President.

When The Beatles came to America.

When we decided to adopt Alyzabeth An.
